The person hung up. I slowly put the phone down. "Svea!" I looked at the time. 5:34
"Yes, hon?" She came in my office and looked at me with puzzlement.
"They got Kevin," I whispered, so Emma and Darren couldn't hear.
"Oh, no. Where?"
"The warehouse on 11th. You need to go save him."
"I can't! I have to teach you how to use your powers! How about you go save him!"
"He can't know that I have powers, Svea."
"Chloe, you have to understand this. If you love Kevin, you have to tell him the truth."
"I can't tell him the truth about me!"
"Truth about what?" Darren popped around the corner.
I scrammed my words. "Um, you can't tell Kevin! Okay?" Svea gave me The Eye with her eyebrow up.
"Yeah, sure. What's up?" Darren came into the office.
"I-I can't have kids!" I blurt out. "I went to the doctor to see if I can have kids, and the doctor said I couldn't." I smiled nervously.
"Ohh, poor you, Chloe. Are you okay?" Darren hugged me.
"I'm fine, Darren." My phone buzzed and I looked at it.
Don't forget. 11th warehouse. 7
I pulled away from Darren. I gave my phone to Svea. She read it.
"Darren?" Svea said. "Kevin said that he won't be coming. He has...family issues...he needs to take care of."
"Yeah, I bet. His dad used to beat him, and his mom was like in the mental hospital, can't even be seen. Of course he has family troubles."
I growled. "Darren!"
"Okay, okay. I'm sorry."
"Give us a moment, Darren." Svea looked at him and he smiled.
"Whatever you want," He left and joined Emma. I saw Emma petting my dog, Baxter. I smiled. Then I saw Darren, and I narrowed my eyes.
"Chloe, let it go. I need to teach you now."
"What about Emma and Darren?"
"Send them home. Say that what Darren said offended you and you need time alone."
I sighed. "Okay. That cleaning was all for nothing, then."
"Don't worry about that." She laughed. "Now go on."
I came out of the office. "Emma, Darren. We need to talk."
"Sure," Emma smiled at me.
Darren said, "Go ahead, princess."
"Darren, you offended me in there and I need time alone to think and I want to wait for Kevin for when he comes here."
"Oh, okay." Emma looked at Darren. "We'll leave you then. Come on, Darren, let's go." She got up and pulled Darren to his feet. They walked to the door. "Chloe, I'm so sorry. If you want to talk..."
"I'll call you," I followed them to the door. I hugged Emma. When they left, I called Svea.
"Let's learn," She rubbed her hands together.
After a hour, I was breathing hard. I learned to move a whole book with my mind and I figured out that I could see through the walls. Baxter watched me do weird things, then I swear I heard him say.
Keep going, Chloe. You'll get it, eventually.
I gasped. "Svea! Baxter talked to me."
"What?" She looked at Baxter. "Bax, talk." He barked. "Um, Chloe?"
Tell her that I don't like her calling me Bax.
I gasped again. "He said that he doesn't like you calling him Bax."
"What?" She scoffed. "You got to be kidding me." Then she said "oh."
"What? Svea?"
"You have another Aellan!" She squealed. "You have the power called Animal Communication. Yes, very boring name. But yay!"
"I can speak to animals?"
"Yes, duh! Bax can talk to you. I'm sorry, Bax-" She swallowed. "Baxter, I'll call you Baxter now, okay?"
He barked. Okay! I'm okay with that.
"He said he's okay with it. OMG! Did my mom have this Aellan?"
"No, I don't think so." Her forehead creased.
"New improvement!" We both squealed.
"Let's keep on practicing. If you learn enough, you can defend yourself on your own."
Yeah! I'm going to make Kevin's kidnapper pay." I laughed and moved a beautiful vase. "Svea, I think I moved this vase once."
"When?" She looked confused.
"I was moving into my apartment and the vase moved and I thought I was crazy. Maybe I'm not."
"You had Aella powers before I told you or taught you! Chloe, that's so cool! You can do this all by yourself. You can do it."
"Really? You think so?"
"No," Svea smiled. "I know so."
I moved my couch and lifted it up. I was careful to set it down nicely. Svea and I took a walk outside and I was moving things and people were awed and amazed. I smiled to myself and Svea bumped my shoulder. I looked at her and she chuckled. I saw a girl crying and I walked up to her.
What's wrong, hon?" Svea said.
"My balloon," That's all she said. I looked up and saw the balloon. I used my telekinesis and grabbed the balloon with my mind. I slowly brought it down and grabbed it with my actual hand.
"Here you go, honey," I held the balloon out.
She smiled and grabbed it. "Thanks a lot, lady." Then she ran off to God knows where. We kept on walking and I did miraculous things.
"Svea, can I ask you a question?"
"Yeah, hon, sure!"
"You look kinda like my mom but you're younger. So how old are you?"
"I'm 32. Your mom was like 3 years older but we looked the same."
"How about you? How old are you? Younger, I suppose?"
"Yeah, I'm 19. Just got into college, you know?"
"Your mom was 29 when she died, and I was 26. She was like a older sister to me. And now she's dead because of your father. We trusted him. I just miss her so much. I said so many regretful things to her that I wish I didn't say."
"It's okay, come here." I give her a hug and she sobs. After she cried all our my shirt, I check the time. 10:34
"Svea, we have to go. Now."
"Let's go save your Kevin." Svea says and smiles wickly.
