We walk into the bad-smelling building and I almost puke. I'm wearing this black ankle boots with heels on them and I can't walk in them. Svea said that I will look badass in them. She even did my make-up and make me wear this black halter top with black jeans. We went back to the apartment to dress appropriately and got some weapons in case I'm not strong enough. I know that Svea has Aella powers but she told me that she wants to see me fight with what I have and we'll improve what we need to. I cock my gun and creep into a big room and check it. I walk around and stepped on broken glass.
"Chloe! In here!" Svea whispered. I look one last time then leave the room.
"What?" I whispered back. I go next to Svea and I see him. Beat up lip and eye. His shirt is torn and it looks like they have him attached to something. "Kevin!" I took a step forward.
"Chloe, no. It might be a trap." She grabbed my wrist.
"NO, let me go. I have to get to Kevin."
She pulls me down. "Chloe, look at me. It's a trap. We'll wait until we see the man. Then we'll make a deal."
I nod.
"I'm here right now," A woman's voice booms across the room. "Let's talk!"
"A woman?" I'm so confused.
"I wanna see you, Chloe. Kevin has said a lot about you. But he doesn't know your past about your parents. Isn't that so sad?" The woman's voice was clean and frightening.
I stand up. "What do you want?" A dark woman was standing on the stairs. She had a white button-down shirt and black pants. She looked like a lawyer or something. She was smiling.
"I want you. You're important. Right, Svea?"
Svea also stands up. "Madam Danica."
"Hello. Nice to see you again. Last time wasn't so pleasant. I'm sorry about that. Now let's negotiate our deal, shall we?"
"Svea? What's happening? What deal?" I look at her and she looks down at her thigh boots.
"Tell her, Svea... Oh, this is good!"
"Um, Chloe. I have a bounty on me. Everyone is trying to kill me on my homeworld. So Madam Danica made me a deal to bring you to her and my bounty is gone."
"But why did you have to bring Kevin into this? Why teach me how to use my Aellan powers?"
"Because I needed you to trust me. I'm sorry, Chloe. And your mom would've wanted me to teach you."
"I can't believe this. I actually trusted you." I scoffed.
"Well, if you want me, Madam Danica, you're gonna have to catch me."
"No," Madam Danica smiled sickly. "Svea can do that. Lock her up with the boy!"
I looked at Svea. She didn't look okay. "I can't do that. Madam Danica, this is already breaking my heart. She's my best friend's daughter. I brought her here for you, that's all I can do. I'm sorry." Svea walked away.
"Ugh, incompetent child!" She jumped off the stairs and landed with a single grunt.
"Svea! Aren't you going to help me?" I called after Svea.
"No, I can't. I'm sorry, Chloe." She walked out of the door.
I looked at Danica and she was smiling with her cracked lips, probably from dehydration. I threw a piece of wood and she deflected it and it fell three feet away from Kevin. I remembered Kevin.
I ran to him and untied his hands. I couldn't unite his feet because a invisible force threw me against the broken wall. I get up and look at the woman walking toward me.
"You really are another thing," She laughed and bent down. "Are you going to come with me freely? Or do I need to drag you?"
I slowly reached for anything next to me to use as a weapon to stab her eye. I looked around and found a torn-up book. I grabbed it but she saw it and tsked.
"Oh, boy," She got up and stepped on my hand with the book. I cried out. She grabbed my hand and pulled me up. Then she locked my hands behind my back. "Move," She forced me to move forward. She put me in these handcuffs but they were glowing blue. And put me in the car. Then she left, and when she came back, she had Kevin. She also put him in the handcuffs and put him in the car. Then she both put bags over our heads. We drove forever. There was a bump then the car stopped. "We're here!" Danica said enthusiastically. I hear a car door open and I felt a yank on my arm. "It's been a long time since I've been at this particular base. I bet Andrew's here!"
"Yeah, that's terrific!" I say, with the same fake enthusiasm she had.
"Oh, cheer up!" Danica opens a door. I hear Kevin grunt and she thrust a body next to mine.
"Kevin?" I say, hoping he's okay.
"Chloe? Are you there?" I reach out and grab what I hope is Kevin's hand. He squeezes back and I smile underneath the bag over my head.
"Well, let's go." She pushes us and the handcuffs dig into my wrists. We go into a place and it smells like dead fish. She sits us down and I hear nothing. Danica puts rope around us and I felt her tie it off. "Colton. Where's your daughter, Collins? She's always with you."
"She's throwing a fit right now. She couldn't come. She thinks that kidnapping people is a terrible thing and she wants me to stop." His voice is deep and strong. He sounds like a leader.
"Oh, poor Collins. She'll get it eventually. So, I brought the prisoners and here they are!" I swear she is too happy and enthusiastic.
"Thank you, Danica. You can leave."
Oh, okay! Bye, Colton. Say hi to Collins for me!"
"Will do. Bye, Danica." He sighed. I think she left. "That woman is too much."
"Right?" I say, but stop. Oops.
"And who are you?" I hear footsteps.
"Chloe, and next to me is Kevin. My boyfriend."
"Ah, yes. Do you know why you're here?" He pulls the bag off my head. I look at the man. Tall, with a nice suit. Long feet, with black shoes.
"Uh, no?" I squint.
"Colton, someone is accessing the panel. I think someone's trying to get out." A tall woman poked her head into the door.
"Be right back." He left and I grabbed my leg, trying to get my small knife in my boot. I touch it and then I get it. I cut through the rope. I hear footsteps and I see a young girl in her teens. She looked exactly like Colton. I stand up, but still with the handcuffs.
"Collins?" I look at her.
"Yes? Who are you?" She creeps more closely to us.
"Chloe, Kevin." I point to me then Kevin. "We can help you. We know you're the one trying to get out of here. Your dad, Colton, kidnapped us. You can help us too."
"Okay, come on." She helped me get out of my handcuffs with a password. And she helped Kevin too. I hugged him.
"You're okay," he breathes into my hair. He kisses me and I kiss back.
"We have to go if we are going to get out of here." Collins says, checking around her, making sure no one is coming.
"Okay." Me and Kevin follow her and she led us through this corridor. Then she opened a door and we were outside.
"Come on, we can take the helicopter." Collins says, and jumps into the helicopter. I look back and see the building. I'm so glad I'm out of that place.
