Chapter 10: Anniversary

Hey guys! This chapter jumps a few months into the future. Hope you like it!

Penelope's POV:

I wake up in our bed alone. My Hot Stuff is already awake. I rub my eyes and smile when I realize what today is. It's our six month anniversary. I look over at the clock on the nightstand and notice that I slept in until almost lunch time.

I get up, go to the bathroom, and take a shower. Afterwards, I open our bedroom door to go downstairs. I notice that there is a trail of rose petals leading from our door.

I follow them down the stairs and into the kitchen. The trail of rose petals led to the table and on the table there is a bouquet of roses and a card.

I picked up the card and on the outside it says "Happy Anniversary". I opened it up and on the inside it says "Happy anniversary Baby. I love you and I'm outside and on the back deck. Love your Hot Stuff."

I smile and go out the back door. My man is sitting in one of the chairs. I walk over to him and bend down to kiss him.

We kiss amd he says "Well hello there Baby Girl."

"Hey Hot Stuff. Happy Anniversary" I reply. He then gets up, takes my hand, and says "Come with me, Baby. We're going to have a picnic. Everything's in the car already."

We go to the car and get in. He drives us to the park that we always go to walk Clooney in. We get out and he gets the cooler and picnic basket out of the trunk. We have our picnic by the river. We talk and flirt and feed each other. We end up hanging out at the park for several hours.

After our picnic, he takes me to a movie. After the movie, we go to dinner at a very fancy restaurant. We talk and laugh throughout our whole dinner.

"Hot Stuff, this has been the best day" I say as we finish eating and the waitor picks up our plates. "I did too Baby Girl" he replies.

"Are you ready to go home, my love" I ask. "Not quite yet. I have something to ask you Baby" my Hot Stuff replies and with that he gets up from the table, walks around to me, and gets down on one knee next to my chair. I cover my mouth with my hands as he begins to speak.

"Baby Girl, we have been dating for exactly 6 months and I have loved you for even longer. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me and the reason I get up in the mornings. You bring light to my life even with the dark job that we have. I would be lost without you. I love you more than anyone or anything in the universe. I want to spend the rest of my life with you and I want you to be the mother of my children. Baby, will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?" he finishes talking and shows me the ring.

Happy tears are streaming down my face as I say "Nothing would make me happier. Of course I'll marry you!"

He then slips the most beautiful ring that I've ever seen on my left ring finger, stands up, and brings me with him. He wraps one arm around me and uses his other hand to cup my face as we share the most perfect kiss that I've ever had right in the middle of that restaurant.

People around are clapping as we pull apart. Derek pays the bill and tips the waitor. I can't stop looking at my engagement ring as I walk out of the restaurant with my new fiancé.
