Potter, Black, Remus — who is usually in possession of the one brain cell the Marauders shared — and Pettigrew, a small boy with mousy-blonde hair, strutted past the Slytherins, the Hufflepuffs and the Ravenclaws whose table James found scrutinising absentmindedly in search for a certain black-haired, smart girl.

The sea of students did not spend much time in the Great Hall, the Gryffindors sat a the far side of the hall, "thank Merlin, the sorting did not take ages this year."

Whilst stuffing his mouth with food, James' desire to cause further havoc resulted in plans forming in his brain. Then, all of a sudden, he was not completely overwhelmed by the necessity for pranks. not anymore. Something a little more interesting had caught his eye.

"Prongs, don't even think about it," a stern Peter said, now starting to sound like a fed-up Lupin, "stop." His large eyes were quickly glancing between a smirking James and a giggling Lily who sat further away with her friends.

"Just wait and watch." James declared.

Sirius nudged Peter and Remus simultaneously with a massive grin on his face, quickly exhilarated, "this 'ought to be good, watch."

In no seconds, Potter was standing on the table with his fat combat boots; a mischievous look written on his face except this was not a result of anticipated pranks but rather his genius plan to win over a certain redheaded girl.

"Lily!" Exclaimed Potter, earning the attention of not only Evans but the entirety of the Gryffindor table, the first years now gaping cluelessly at the otherworldly behaviour. "There is something I would like to ask—"

"Get down," Lily's cheeks were now crimson coated, embarrassment filling her veins instead of blood. "Get down now," she whisper-yelled in his direction, chin low to avoid all the stares she received, and all those giggles at the strange encounter.

"Just hear me out!" James called out, placing his hand over his chest with a love-smitten grin, "I have changed, I have!"

Sirius snorted.
