"Mommy look!" Y/n giggles
She holds up her picture of a pink scribbly coloured in dog
"It's beautiful, baby Angel," I compliment
"I'm going to do another one!" she smiles and I nod going back to my colouring
"How was your first week at school? Make any friends yet?" I ask
Y/n's always been a social butterfly at heart but she can get really nervous about meeting new people.
She stops giggling and her smile drops
"No. Nobody wants to play with me," She sighs looking at all the different crayons before picking up a blue one
My poor baby.
"But I learned how to spell poo," She giggles and I smile at her innocence
I hear the door creak making me immediately look
I see Hudson standing there with a sympathetic look smeared across his face
I shake my head no but he just nods confirming that it's time for her to go.
I look down at my girl who is peacefully humming away as she colours in her tenth picture
I place my hand on her back and start rubbing it gently
"Angel," I say softly to get her attention
"Yes Mommy?" she asks looking up at me
"It's time for you to go home now," I say trying to hold it together
Like clockwork her once happy face is replaced with one of sadness.
A facial expression that is too mature to be on the face of a 5-year-old.
"No," Y/n states climbing into my lap and wrapping her arms around my torso the best she can since her arms are tiny.
"I don't wanna go," She says muffled by my body
"Please Mommy, don't make me go," she sniffles resting her chin on my stomach
"It's not up to me baby," I whisper, my voice cracking
I place my hand on the back of her head and I gently rub it.
"Besides, you have a week of fun with Nanna," I say quietly but she just shakes her head
"But I don't want Nanna!" She sobs taking her hands off me to wipe her eyes with her fingers
"I don't want Nanna! I don't want Daddy, I don't want Hailey!" she continues sobbing
"I want you!" She sobs twice as hard as before
