The twenty-four mentors spent their morning in a seminar led by Professor Crispus Demigloss, their excitable old history professor. The classroom brainstormed ideas— beyond the addition of mentors — to get people to watch the Hunger games. The Breen girl sat next to Clemensia and Arachne on her other side, they were all talking to each other about how silly the boys were acting in this class half not paying any attention and the other half giving stupid ideas that don't make sense

"Let's stay on topic, please." the professor spoke scanning the room for a more productive answer "How do we get people to watch The Hunger Games?"

Festus Creed raised his hand. He'd been one of the inner circle with Priscilla since birth, His family was old capital money, Their fortune, largely in District 7 lumber, His scoring the District 4 girl reflected his status quite accurately, high, but not stellar

"Enlighten us, Festus" said Professor Demigloss

"Simple. we go straight to punishment." Fetus answered, "Instead of suggesting people to watch it we make it a law"

"What happens if you don't watch it" Clemensia, not bothering to raise her hand or even look up from her notes

"In the districts, we execute you. In the capital, we make you move to the districts, and if you mess up again next year, then we execute you" Festus said cheerfully, the class laughed, Gaius hit his the back of his friends head as he says how stupid that sounds making them all laugh again

"The real problem is, it's sickening to watch" Priscilla spoke "So people avoid it"

"Of course they do! who wants to watch a group of children kill each other? only a vicious, twisted person. Human beings may not be perfect, but we're better then that" Sejanus jumped in

"How do you know?" said Livia snappishly "And how does someone from the districts have any idea what we want to watch in the capital? you weren't even here during the war" Sejanus fell silent, unable to deny it

"Because most of us are basically decent people" The breen girl snapped at the blonde haired girl as she didn't like how she spoke to her friend "Most of us don't want to watch other people suffer"

"We watched worse things in the war, and after" Coriolanus reminded her, she looked at him before back at her notes as she was reminded he was still mad at her for something she didn't mean for to happen, he was right though there had been some bloody stuff broadcast over the airwaves during the dark days, many brutal executions after the treaty of treason had been signed

"But we had real stake in that, Coryo!" said Arachne, "We were watching our enemies die! I mean, rebel scum and what not. who cares about these kids one way or another"

"Possibly their families" Gaius spoke

"You mean a handful of nobodies gai? in the districts. so what?" Arachne boomed "why should the rest of us care which one of them wins?"

Livia looked pointedly at Sejanus "I know i don't"

"I get more excited over a dogfight" admitted Festus "Especially if i'm betting on it"

"So you'd like it if we gave odds on the tributes?" Priscilla asked "That would make you tune in?"

"Well, it would certainly liven things up, cilla" Festus said smiling up at her as she just nodded, a few people chuckled, but then they went quite as they mulled over the idea

"It's gruesome" Lysistrata said, then looked at her best friend from across the room "Did you mean it for real? You think we should have betting on who wins?"

"Not really" The breen girl said,

"But on the other hand, if it's a success, then absolutely, cilla can go down in history as the one who brought gambling to the games" Coriolanus said, Priscilla just cringes thinking how cruel that was and how she was the one who'll be known for that, Lysistrata shook her head in exasperation, As they walked to lunch Coriolanus couldn't help but think of the idea may have almost implied
