Chapter 20 Pain

//Annie POV//

Annie awoke by the feeling of something moving under her. She opened her eyes to see that it was Eren moving a bit but still asleep. She smiled and closed her eyes, placing her head on his chest and listening to his heartbeat. She was about to go to sleep again until she heard Eren start to cough uncontrollably. She sat up worried and gasped when she saw blood tickling out of his mouth as he coughed. He started to wake up but then hugged his chest like he was in pain.

"Eren?!" she cried out in concern. "What's wrong?! Eren?!"

"I-It...hurts!" Eren managed to say before coughing again and blood landing on the couch.

"DAD!" Annie screamed for her father and heard him coming down the stairs.

"Annie?! What's wron-Eren! Hey, are you-" he didn't get to finish as Eren fell to the floor and started to cough more uncontrollably.

"H-Hurts...so...*coughs more blood*...much!" Eren tried to say but only came out as a whisper. Annie fell to her knees beside him and wrapped her arms around him. Sitting him up and rocking him gently.

"Just breathe...just breathe, Eren." Annie instructed him in tears.

"Ok...ok...o..." Eren started to breathe normally and relaxed in her arms. The coughing stop and now he rested his head on her chest awake. She waited until he was ready and he got up. "Thank you."

"Are you ok?" Annie asked him gently.

"Better now thanks to you." Eren smiled.

"What happen?" Annie asked concerned, but all he did was simply shrug.

"I don't know...it just...happen?" he told her. "I'll call Armin and Mikasa and tell them what happen, ok?"

"Good idea." Annie nodded yes. He took out his phone and walks to the kitchen, all Annie could do was watch him in concern of his health.

"Has that happen before?" her father asked her calmly.

"No...and it already starting to worry me." Annie told him. "Should we take him to the hospital?"

"No need!" she heard Eren shout from the kitchen. "I'll be fine!"

"But Eren-" Annie stopped and walks to the kitchen to see him eating cereal and texting. "What if you're really sick?"

"Then I have to resist it. You and me are going to look for this Historia at school." Eren told her. Looking like he was fine but Annie knew deep inside he wasn't. But she figured that maybe this could keep his mind busy and not thinking about what happen right now.

"Ok, let's go-but let me eat as well." Annie told him. She grabbed a bowl and pour herself some cereal. But at that moment, she remembered that her father saw her in the living room. Probably knows that she snuck in and slept with him, she felt like freaking out but she held it in.

She ate quickly and then went to change to her school uniform but when she came back downstairs. She noticed that Eren simply changed to his 'Anti-hero' clothes. Zipping his black jacket closed then grabbing two pairs of weird knifes from the jacket. He did something she didn't see well and the knives expanded like swords.

"Whoa!" Annie gasped impressed.

"Yeah, something Armin and Sasha made to maybe use just in case I was unarmed." Eren told her as he made the blades short again. "Let's go-oh, and here."

"Huh?" she was handed one of the knives. "But-"

"Just in case..." Eren told her. She nodded yes and hid it in her pocket.
