Larkin's POV:
I hated my parents. Ever since I was blessed by the wolf goddess when I was younger, they left me to starve. If it wasn't for my sister Kinsey, I would of wasted away. Me and Kinsey always did things together. She was fourteen while I was twelve. I wasn't your average twelve year old, though due to lack of education until I started to go to school. But even then, I struggled.
"Larkin?" Kinsey came into my room one day.
I stretched and sighed. "Hey, Kins."
"Are you ready for school?" Kinsey sat peside me.
"I'm hungry," I complained. "I want something to eat. Why does Mum and Dad treat me like I'm nothing to them?"
Kinsey held me close. "It's okay. I'm going to take you to McDonalds for breakfast before School!"
"Really?" I felt excitement creep into me.
"Oh, morning, you!" Dad walked in. "Kinsey? Why are you in here?"
"Why do you want to know?" Kinsey glared at our father. "Like you care what I do with Larkin."
"Get out of here," snapped our father.
"No," said Kinsey. "You are a bastard to do this to Larkin. He can't help being ... different to us."
I tried to hide the fact my stomach was rumbling like a volcano about to erupt. But it was tricky.
"Oh, dear," sneered our father, looming over me. "Look, the Wolf is hungry?"
Kinsey grabbed onto me and dragged me away. "Enough, Father! That is enough."
She turned away and we walked out. I felt so ill. I hated our parents.
***
"Here we go," said Kinsey as we sat down on a bench, two minutes later. "Safe now!"
"I'm hungry!" I felt my stomach rumble again.
"Don't worry, Bro!" Kinsey hugged me, getting her phone out. "What do you want?"
I looked at her screen. "Er ... Just get me pancakes!"
"Are you sure?" Kinsey stared at me.
I nodded and sighed. Kinsey was tapping her phone a lot. I watched as people walked past, looking happy. Why were they happy?
"Hey," Kinsey put her arm round me.
"What?" I asked.
"What's wrong?" Kinsey stared into my eyes. "Cheer up! It's not like we are at home with those meanies."
I nodded. I know! But watching people smile. I can't stand it."
Kinsey hugged me close. "All we have had inn life so far is hell. Of course Happiness will be a bad thing to you. But trust me. We have each other."
"I guess so," I said sighing.
"Come on," said my sister getting up. "Your Mc donalds is waiting."
I got to my feet and followed my sister across the road. I couldn't believe that Kinsey and I were together. It felt so freeing when we were outside the house.
