Olivia's POV:

I stared at Larkin. He was so nice. I couldn't help but blush bright red. Oh for god sake. I gently slapped myself to get me back from the fantasy daydream. Larkin was chuckling.

"What?" I questioned him, my eyebrows raised.

"You looked half asleep," smiled Larkin. "You are so pretty!"

"Really?" I felt a bit of a blush creep into my face. Oh god.

"Why are you blushing?" Larkin was laughing now. "Makes you look adorable."

I grinned despite the fact I was still going red. "Really? Even with my eyes?"

"I don't see anything wrong with damaged eyes," said Larkin.

"Could you see if I can see my sister, again?" I felt a slight pain in my heart.

"Of course," said my new friend. "Later perhaps?"

I nodded, hoping he could help me.

It was after school finished. Kinsey, Larkin and I were walking out the school gates. There was no sign of Francesca and Freya around, thank goodness.

"Olivia," said Kinsey coming up to me. "Are you okay? You look upset or something."

"I'm fine," I replied. "Just hoping to see my sister again."

"Mackenzie?" Kinsey hugged me gently. "Me and Larkin see her as wolf sometimes managing to get around with three legs. She told us in sign language about how she ended up like that. Your birth parents sound worse than ours."

I nodded. "But starving someone because they are different? Doesn't seem fair to me!"

"That's why we sneak off a lot," Larkin explained. "Kinsey slips me out the back way and we go off to many places. The Cakes always let us stay. That's how we know Mackenzie!"

"Ah," I smiled. "Makes sense!"

"We were going to go there, later!" Kinsey smiled. "Would Jackson let you stay here?"

I saw a familiar shadow between the trees. I shrugged. "I'll ask him."

I walked to the wolf and smiled. He smiled back and trotted to me. Ask him, Olivia.

"Er ... Jackson," I said looking at him. "My friends here have asked if I could stay here for a bit? I might get to see Mackenzie."

Jackson nodded his head and licked my hand. I took my backpack off my back that had everything in it, including my official school uniform in. Jackson gently gripped it in his jaws and turned tail. I waved to my carer and turned to rejoin Kinsey and Larkkin.

"So," said Larkin. "I'm guessing you can come with us?"

I nodded. "He will come back later."

"That's great!" Kinsey smiled. "Do you need guiding, Olivia? Take your glasses off for a while!"

I nodded and slipped my glasses off my nose. Everything suddenly went back to blurry. Kinsey held out her arm and I linked my arm round her. Larkin followed us as we walked up the street.

***

When we got to the Cake's house, Kinsey rang their door bell. Instantly, the door flew open and Mr Cake welcomed us into the house.

"Hello, there," he said, shaking my hand. "You must be Olivia! Mackenzie wanted to see you!"

"How is she?" I felt worried.

"She can lip read," said Alex. "But she doesn't know many words to talk back!"

"Does she do sign language?" I asked. "Kinsey and Larkin told me she does!"

"Yes," said Alex. "If you want me to translate what you said to Mackenzie, I can! I can also teach you, too!"

I nodded. "It would be helpful. But maybe not today!"

"Tell me when you are ready!" Alex patted me on the shoulder gently. "I'll go and get her!"

He turned away. Kinsey and Larkin took me into the living room to sit down. I did so, feeling the sofa that had beautiful flower patterns on the cushions. Larkin sat beside me on my left. Kinsey sat on my other side. They both put their arm round me.

"I haven't actually seen her since that day!" I admitted. "So that was eight years ago!"

The Ellington siblings gasped.

"What?" I asked them. "I haven't. I wasn't forbidden to see her. But I thought it would be easier to let her grow up here."

"Ah," Larkin said.

"We totally get that," said Kinsey. "Ah, here she comes!"

The door opened and Alex came in, helping in my little sister. Wow, she's grown up! I let Alex come to me so I wouldn't startle Mackenzie.

"Here is your sister," Alex signed to Mackenzie. "Olivia is here to see you!"

Mackenzie got excited and jumped up and down making excited noises. I smiled and waved to her. "Hey, Little sis!"

Alex signed my message to her. Then smiled as she signed back to him. I wished I knew more sign language.

"Bless her," said Alex as they joined us. "She's on your left, beside Larkin."

Larkin gently grabbed my hand and put it into the small hand of my sister. She squeezed my hand which made me smile. I'm glad I got to see my sister again!
