It wasn't long before things escalated. She threw herself at David causing him to swerve the whole car, leading the three of you in a ditch. Luckily her seatbelt kept her far enough away to not leave any marks on David.

Your heart raced as you frantically escape the car. David was still stuck inside. You opened the passengers door and pulled his mother out the car, her attempts to bite and grab at you were near successful. You almost lost grip of the woman as she used all her strength to pull herself forward, still having her eyes on David.

You finally let go of her. She tried crawling back into the car before you closed the passenger door onto her head with full force. You didn't even think about it, it just happened. Her lifeless body flopped onto the passenger seat as the blood splattered all over you and David, who was still stuck in the drivers seat. His eyes were wide as he stared at his mothers now deceased body.

You were terrified for what he might do next, you just killed his mother. But you saved him right? She was crazy!

David used his strength to kick at the windshield, shattering the window and crawling through to meet you on the other side. You offer him a hand so he wouldn't hurt himself anymore than he already has with the glass scattered everywhere. He accepts.

"I'm so sorry, I'm so.." You continued spilling apologies as you help David to his feet. He didn't say a word as he dusts himself off, starring at the sight in front of him. "That wasn't mama.."

David pulls your arm, leading you back to the main road, only to see more chaos unfold.

Crazy people just like mama were on the loose. Others got out their cars in attempt to help the 'sick' people, but it only resulted in them getting mauled alive.

The sights and screams had made you petrified. Car horns were going off every second, along with alarms which seemed to get the sick peoples attention. This giving David more than enough time to think.

"Come on." David hauls you into a now empty car, making sure to lock the doors before turning on the radio and driving off.

"As the unknown affliction continues to spread unchecked, the estimated death toll continues to skyrocket. Our staff urges you to stay indoors, and avoid any contact with individuals you suspect may have been exposed." The radio announces.

You feel your breathing get heavy as David speaks. "We need to get out of Baltimore, it already seems to be at its worse."

"What about Kate? And Javi?" You ask.

David frowned. "If they're smart they'd do the same. Just keep your phone on so we can call them when you get a signal."

"They were suppose to meet us at the hospital, maybe we should see if they made it?"

"Are you fucking crazy? People are being KILLED out there, if anything the hospital would be packed to the brim with people like mama, we need to leave." He pointed out.

"Yeah, okay." You sunk in your seat, disappointed that you wouldn't be turning around. But what could you do? You only prayed that the others were safe, hopefully back at the house or leaving the city.

David drove for hours, stopping occasionally to see if you'd get any signal on your phone, none. Everywhere you stopped seemed to be a danger, this sickness spread like wildfire. Just a few hours ago you were suppose to be at dinner with your fiancé.

Now you were stuck in a car with his brother for who knows how long.

"Come on.." You pleaded, holding your phone up to your ear as the phone continued to go straight to voicemail.

"Anything?" David asks.

The two of you stopped at a gas station in the middle of nowhere, seemed like a calmer area, thank god. It felt nice to not be cramped in the car for a few minutes.

"No." You kick your feet at the ground while David filled up the car with gas. You still felt guilty, you didn't even know who's car this was, what if it was their only chance at escaping?

You tried not to think about it, about the amount of people dying and struggling for safety at this very moment.

"Do you think this will blow over?" You looked to David, wanting an honest answer, but he remained silent.

He removes the pump from the car and finally makes eye contact with you.

"No." He starts. "How the hell do we go back to normal after this? The whole fucking city is going to be traumatized for the rest of their lives."

He motions his arms around as he speaks.

"You don't think the sickness has spread outside of Baltimore?"

From what you knew, you assumed the sickness was only in your home state, Maryland.

David shook his head. "Listen, I think it's best if we go to one of the military check-points. This has gotta be a world wide deal, and if I can meet up with my crew then- we'll have a better chance at fixing this."

"You think we're that fucked?" You chuckled in disbelief, the world really did go to shit in a matter of seconds.

"For sure." David opens the car door and sits back in the drivers seat. You follow his lead, taking your place in the passengers seat. "Alright, I guess that's our best bet."

"It's our only option."

"We could turn around, and go home." You shrug. You knew it was the stupidest thing to say but you were worried. You needed to know that Javi was okay, along with Kate, Hector and the kids.

Davids eyes rolled to the back of his head. "You and I both know that isn't happening. There's no way back, unless you plan on walking. Be my guest."

You frown, easily defeated by this.
"I'm just worried."

"You're worried? I have a fucking family. You don't think I'm worried out of my mind?" His head snaps towards you.

"No, I know. David, I know you're worried about them which is exactly why we should-"

"No!" You were cut off before you could even try and reason with him. You decided to drop it, because in his eyes you knew nothing.

David would always win.
Even if you had a degree, he'd still manage to tear you down.

"Okay." You mumble as David started driving to the next destination. Once he had a goal in mind, there was no changing his plans.
