The next two weeks felt like they both flew by and dragged on forever for Kei. Tutoring was so mind-numbingly boring he was tempted more than once to summon Mahoraga to kill his tutor and just end it all, but Yuji said he shouldn't joke about stuff like that.
Kei was entirely unsure if it was a joke, but he tried to banish the temptation for Yuji's sake.
Finally, the last day at the Zen'in estate had arrived. Kei and Yuji had both finished packing and were eagerly waiting to leave. Outside of lessons, the estate hadn't been quite as bad as they'd feared. Most of the other clan members seemed to be avoiding them, a situation that suited Kei quite well, and the only people he saw outside of the tutors, Asami, and Yuji on the regular were Mai, Maki, and Naobito.
He'd had the misfortune of running into Naoya twice and Ogi once. All three events were better left forgotten.
They'd just finished breakfast and Asami was leading them towards Naobito's office. It was their last task to complete before they were free to leave for the school.
"Remember to text or call me if you need anything," Asami was reminding them both, "I'll be stopping by the school at least once a month to deliver supplies and check in on you. I'll still be assigned to you as primarily your servant though, so if you need anything at all just let me know and I'll ensure I or someone else gets it to you."
Asami had taken to mothering both of them in the last two weeks. Apparently, they were hopeless without her. Kei wasn't exactly complaining. He'd never really had a mother figure, so it was kind of nice to have a sort of maternal figure looking out for him, but it was a bit overwhelming at times.
Yuji seemed to enjoy it though, so Kei wouldn't kick up a fuss about it.
"Don't worry Asami," Yuji said, beaming at her, "We'll check in regularly. And if we need anything, I'll make sure Kei texts you. Or I'll send a text from his phone so it looks like the request came from him. One of those."
Kei tsked, but he was ignored by both of them. Yuji had quickly picked up the rules of what Asami was and wasn't allowed to do for him as Yuji was only a guest of the Zen'in clan. He'd also figured out ways to get around such things so he could ask Asami to do things that she'd admittedly wanted to help with, but could not on Yuji's behalf. The request had to come from Kei, or at least look like it did, so Yuji often made Kei voice his requests for him or stole his phone in order to text Asami under the pretense that the request came from Kei instead of Yuji. Asami was fully aware of the deception, but faked ignorance in order to complete the requests.
They arrived at Naobito's office, Asami announcing them and then showing them inside the office upon permission to enter.
"Good," Naobito greeted them, dropping his pen on top of the paperwork he'd been working on, "You're both here. Sit."
They both sat.
It'd been a bit weird at first, Naobito acknowledging Yuji's existence, but they soon figured out it was a bid to get in Yuji's good graces and win him over so he'd marry into the clan.
"I've arranged everything with your tutor I'll be sending to the school," Naobito informed Kei, "He'll be tutoring you twice a week, barring any missions. Once a week alone for heir training and the other for the both of you to catch up on the history of jujutsu and basic etiquette training. If you have a mission that will cause you to miss a lesson, you'll contact him. He'll give you his contact information when he meets you this Wednesday for your first lesson."
Personally, Kei was relieved the lessons were only twice a week. He'd agreed to as many lessons as were required, but he may not have been able to resist the urge to summon Mahoraga afterall if he'd had to attend tutoring every day on top of repeating the beginning of his first year of school at Jujutsu Tech, taking on grade 1 missions, and figuring out how to save the future.
