(XV) 'No matter what happens, I'll take care of it all.'

A week passes.

On a fine morning.

Yoongi fixes his tie and says, 'Ji-Yoon, let's go.'

Ji-Yoon grabs her backpack and walks into the living room.

Mrs Min says, 'Drive safely.'
Yoongi says, 'Okay, Amma.'

Ji-Yoon is about to open the door and that is when the doorbell is heard.

Ji-Yoon gulps nervously and spares a glance at Yoongi. He raises his chin and she opens the door.

Two policemen are standing in front of Yoongi's family.

Yoongi asks, 'What is it, Officers?' and presses his lips tight.

One of the policemen says, 'I'm Suresh K. Nair. This is Vishnu Prasad. We have a few questions for you.'

Yoongi says, 'Please come in. Be seated.' and gestures asking the officers to sit.

The officers sit on the couch.

Yoongi says, 'My sister has to go to the university. I have to go to work as well. I'd appreciate it if you could make it quick.'
Officer Suresh says, 'Sure...'
Yoongi asks, 'How about something to drink?'
Officer Vishnu answers, 'No... Thank you.'

Yoongi sits in front of the officers. Ji-Yoon closes the door and walks to the couch. She stands next to the couch.

Officer Vishnu says, 'Please be seated, Miss...'
Yoongi says, 'Sit down, Ji-Yoon.'

Ji-Yoon keeps her backpack on the floor and hesitantly sits next to Yoongi.

Officer Vishnu says, 'She must be your Amma. Please be seated, Amma.' and smiles professionally.

Mrs Min slowly reaches for the couch with her fingers and sits on it next to Yoongi.

Officer Suresh asks, 'Is she blind?'
Mrs Min says, 'Yes, I am.'

Yoongi smiles a little at the officers.

Officer Vishnu asks, 'Are you guys Chinese?'
Yoongi answers, 'We are Koreans.'
Officer Suresh asks, 'North or South?'
Yoongi answers, 'South.'
Officer Vishnu asks, 'Do you know Sudhakaran Pazhayaveettil?'

Yoongi thinks for a moment and asks, 'The politician, isn't he?'

Officer Vishnu asks, 'How do you know him?'
Yoongi answers, 'He's a politician. Everybody here knows him.'
Officer Suresh asks, 'Did he come here?'
Yoongi answers, 'Here? Why would he come here? We don't know him personally.'

Officer Suresh leans forward and says, 'You know... Sudhakaran is a womaniser. Everybody knows that...'

Yoongi says, 'I didn't know that.'

Officer Vishnu clicks his tongue and flashes a glare at Officer Suresh. The latter gulps nervously and leans backwards.

Officer Vishnu says, 'Sudhakaran's mate, Arshad Ali, said that Sudhakaran said he'd be here at your house.'
Yoongi asks, 'My house? Why would he come to my house?'
Officer Suresh says, 'We don't know. You have a sister... So...'
Yoongi says, 'We usually go to church on Sunday. We weren't home yesterday.'
Officer Vishnu says, 'Not yesterday. Last week. Saturday.'

Yoongi thinks for a minute and says, 'We weren't home on Saturday.'

Officer Suresh asks, 'Where were you?'
Yoongi answers, 'We hung out.'
Officer Suresh asks, 'Where did you go?'
Yoongi answers, 'We went for a movie. We went to the park as well.'
Officer Vishnu asks, 'What movie?'
Yoongi answers, 'RDX.'
Mrs Min asks, 'Why are you asking us all this?'

Officer Vishnu says, 'Sudhakaran Pazhayaveettil is missing.'
Mrs Min says, 'Oh...'
Officer Vishnu asks, 'Do you have the tickets with you?'
Yoongi answers, 'Mmm... I haven't done laundry yet... So I might have it. I'll have to check.'
Officer Suresh says, 'We wanna see the ticket.'

Yoongi stands up and says, 'Just a minute. I'll check.' He flashes a smile and walks upstairs.

Officer Suresh asks, 'Did you both watch the movie?'
Ji-Yoon answers, 'Yes, sir.'
Officer Suresh says, 'Your Amma is blind. How does she watch movies?'
Ji-Yoon says, 'Her children are her eyes. She has two children. Meaning, she has two eyes.'
Officer Vishnu says, 'I suppose you narrate the story to her.'
Mrs Min says, 'Yes, sir. They do.'

Yoongi rushes downstairs and gives the ticket to Officer Suresh as he says, 'Here you go, Officer.'

Yoongi sits in between Mrs Min and Ji-Yoon.

Officer Suresh asks, 'What about their tickets?'
Ji-Yoon answers, 'I did laundry already. Amma as well.'
Officer Suresh says, 'So... Mr...'
Yoongi says, 'Yoongi Min.'
Officer Suresh says, 'Youngi Min.'
Yoongi says, 'Yoongi. Yoon.. Gi.'

Officer Vishnu says, 'So, Mr Yoongi Min has an alibi. What about you two?'
Yoongi says, 'My Amma is blind. My sister is just a university student. What can they do to a grown man? Come on, Officers.'
Officer Suresh says, 'You have a point.'

Officer Vishnu clicks his tongue and glares at Officer Suresh. The latter smiles awkwardly.

Officer Vishnu says, 'We'll be back if we need something.'
Yoongi says, 'Okay, Officers.'

The policemen stand up. Yoongi pats Mrs Min's hand and stands up. Ji-Yoon and Mrs Min follow him.

The officers step out of the house.

Yoongi says, 'You're gonna be late, Ji-Yoon. Come on.' and walks out of the house.

Ji-Yoon grabs her backpack and follows Yoongi.

Shortly, Yoongi and Ji-Yoon are sitting in the car. She gives him a quick hug and sniffles once.

He says, 'Nothing happened. Am I understood?'
She says, 'Yes... Ichaya.'
He says, 'No matter what happens, I'll take care of it all.'

She nods in response.

He plants a soft kiss on her forehead and smiles at her. She gets out of the car and waves at Anju. She walks to Anju.

Yoongi drives off with a small smile on his lips.
