He combed her hair back, a fretful look on his face. "Tumhe pata hai yeh mausam e bahar chal raha hai. Why did you think it would be a good idea to walk to the gate?"
She sniffled her nose, snuggling into the comforter more as he sighed at her swollen eyes and red cheeks. She had an intense fever after walking through the rain to wait for him outside the University campus. She kept claiming she did it because he took too long to park but he knew it was because she had had the gol gappay they sold outside.
He hadn't found evidence and she wouldn't admit it.
She whined as he touched her forehead. "You know you have food poisoning right."
"Rohail let me sleep." She closed her eyes.
"What did you eat Marwa?" He asked calmly, pinching the bridge of his nose. He had been home all day on call, ready to go in even though it was his day off. She had woken up and immediately thrown up the contents of her stomach thrice.
Afia knocked on the door that was half open and stepped in. "Goodness. Meri bachi itni haseen lag rahi thi nazar lag gayi."
Marwa opened her eyes and smiled lopsidedly. She looked so wholly carefree that it almost brought him out of his bad mood. "Dekha? It's because of nazar."
"You're a doctor. Don't give me that." He grunted.
She scrunched her nose. "Dadi he's being mean. Isko k yeh jaye."
"This is my room!" He protested when Afia sent him a look.
"And she is your wife." Afia wiggled her brows. "You ruined my plans though Marwa. I was going to take you to go play badminton."
Marwa raised her brow. "You were going to take me to the new cheesecake place that just opened up."
Afia who was just sitting down frowned as Rohail shot her a dirty look, immediately standing up and sending a furtive look at her watch. "Oh lookie here! I better go! Mera drama shuru honay wala hai!"
"Dramaybaaz." Rohail grunted, his attention back to Marwa who shifted to her left side.
"Marwa. Tumhara test hai Monday ko." He voiced.
"Tumhe kaisay pata?" She croaked, not bothering to look at him.
He ignored the question. "If you wanted street food I would have gotten it from a cleaner place."
"Rohail, tang mat karo."
"Ab test toh gaya."
"Jaye bhar mein ab mein kya mar jaun ek test k peechay?"
He sent her a sharp look. "Bakwas shuru?"
"Tameez se baat kiya karo tum." She suddenly sat up. "Mein tumse lar rahi hoon?"
Rohail rolled his eyes as she crossed her hands over her chest. Her hot pink kameez matched the color of her face. Her hair was a complete mess of poofy waves and curls, half frizzy and sticking out at random angles. Her lips were a little pale and she looked thinner but he was sure that was just his worry talking.
"I've only been taking care of you! Agar meine pooch hi liya toh kya taqleef hai tumhe."
She paused, her eyes narrowing. Suddenly Marwa Kafeel looked very dangerous. "Ek baat batao."
