"You almost done?" He held his stethoscope in his hand, hair disheveled and eyes tired as he smiled lopsidedly.
Marwa looked up, placing a few papers on the nurses' station as she caught sight of him. "Yeah. Just looking over the discharge papers one last time."
"Then let's get out of here hmm?" He said in a quieter voice, noticing the attention of a few nurses around them.
As soon as he left the questions began. "Aap kaisay janti hain inhe Dr. Sahiba?"
Marwa hesitated for a second, looking at the head nurse who was most likely going to gossip afterwards. "Mere husband hain."
"Oh! Waqayi? Mujhe nahi pata tha aap shaadi shuda hai."
She smiled politely, excusing herself as she slipped out of her lab coat. Her dupatta was slipping off her head so she readjusted it, finding sight of Rohail and walking up to him.
He waited until they were in the car, buckled in. And then took his chance.
"Kahin bahir khana khaye?"
She uneasily smiled. She wanted to say yes, but she was so so tired. "Aaj nahin. Mein bohot thak chuki hoon."
He, tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "Okay. We'll order in. Nap?"
"You know me so well." She grinned. And he let out an airy laugh.
"Didn't think I'd ever hear you say that." He admitted, turning out of the driveway.
She leaned closer, kissing his cheek much to his surprise. "Mujhe achay lagna shuru hogaye ho tum. But don't push your luck."
As soon as they got home they changed, showering the grime and germs of the hospital off of them and got into bed to wait while their food arrived. He tried to turn on a movie but couldn't really focus when she leaned her head on his shoulder, her arm around his midriff.
He felt eyes on him, right as he was trying to pay attention, and looked down at her to find her gazing at him, wide eyed, smiley. And then shyly look away. It brought out a bashful smile of his own.
Not even two minutes later, he caught her again, this time not being able to hold back, pulling her up into his lap.
"Ab dekh lo." He whispered, as her arms circled around his neck.
She wrinkled her nose. "Eh. Now I don't feel like it anymore."
He pretended to be offended. "Excuse me?"
She sneaked a smile. "The glamor wore off up close."
"Right back at ya." He pushed her down and then pulled the blanket over her face. "In fact I think I need to cover that up entirely."
Her muffled shriek of surprise was as indignant as the murderous look on her face when she pulled back the blanket.
"Isko kehte hain, haath pakraya toh agle ne pura bazoo hi pakar liya."
He nodded his head. "Mein pura bhi pakar sakta hoon tum kaho tho."
"Nahi. Apne hath apne paas rakho tum. Kuch-!"
"Zyada hi muh laga liya hai same old same old."
An unabashed laugh escaped her lips. "You're finishing my sentences now?"
