Hi, any possible invisible reader! So, this diary entry, if you noticed, skips from 2017, to 2022, meaning that it's Rose's fifth year at Hogwarts. Many of the diary entries do this. In each chapter, you'll see a diary entry either days, weeks, or even months apart, though I can assure you, I will rarely ever skip months each chapter. And, as for years, I'm only going to be skipping them right now. After this chapter, everything should continue on from 2022. This, however, doesn't mean that Rose only writes on her diary these select few days. She is writing on her diary every day.

(Chapter II: In which I almost get detention)
Monday, October 10th, 2022, 1st period: Transfiguration
I have never gotten detention.
Ever.
In fact, I have never even so much as had a, "10 points off Gryffindor, young lady!" hurled at me. In terms of school, one thing that I can actually say I am not disastrously horrible at is my attendance record and not getting into much trouble.
But, then, since the Gods above really enjoy fiddling with the strings of fate, I did the stupidest thing in the history of stupid things.
I left my Transfiguration essay at the dorms.
It was due today. Not yesterday, neither tomorrow, but precisely, today. And, Rose here, left it sitting comfortably on her bedside table without a care in the world.
So, I could only form one reasonable conclusion as I nervously bit my lip and contemplated the meaning of life, seated on my usual spot in class: Today was the day I was going to get detention. In my mind, like an overly dramatic soap opera, a series of rather unfortunate events would spiral after I would get in trouble for not turning in my essay:
1) Mum finds out that her supposedly 'behavior friendly' daughter has ended up in detention; she blames Dad for not keeping a close eye on me during the past summer holidays when she was traveling in Egypt for some really important work for the Ministry.
2) Dad says he's just about had it with Mum bossing him around and leaves the house and pledges to most probably never, ever come back. He then proceeds to live a life full of crime and alcohol.
3) Without the company of her beloved husband, Mum, lonely, starts hanging out with those 'we're-old-but-let's-still-party-our-arses-off' supposedly cool moms.
4) Hugo, my awfully annoying brother, thus tries to murder me because of how low our mother has fallen only to end up in Azkaban and break some sort of record of being the youngest criminal ever.
5) His most likely failed attempt in murdering me (it is after all githead Hugo) leaves me still alive and crack-a-lackin'. Hence, Uncle Harry and Aunt Ginny step up to take care of pretty-much-orphan Rose since her Mum was barely even around anymore and her Dad was long gone.
6) Uncle Harry also tries to bail Hugo out of jail. But, they refuse to let him go. This results in him battling a dementor, and eventually, getting his soul sucked out.
7) Aunt Ginny, upon the death of her beloved husband; joins Mum in her party predicament and also lives a life of alcoholism.
8) And, thus, the entire family is destroyed and shattered, thanks to Rose's detention. The end.
