A\N: This is going to be one of the most heartbreaking stories I think I've ever written. You'll need tissues, Angels. Enjoy.

"I'm leaving the firm." Will announces to her and Diane. Tears spring to her eyes. "What?!" She demands angrily. He can't leave! Her brain tells her. Will looks at her. "Alicia, listen to me, you, of all people, know I've always wanted to run my own firm and I've done that. I need to move on." She scoffs and rolls her eyes.

"What happened to Mr 'I'll never be anything but a lawyer'?" She asks. "Leesh, I've been a lawyer for 20 years, it's time I move on." Will says, Alicia scoffs again.

"Bullshit, you're not moving on, you're quitting." She snaps. "Do you remember when I wanted to quit Law School?" She asks him, knowing he'll remember that night. Will smiles tightly and nods. "Of course I do." He says.

"Do you remember what you told me when you found out? 'You can leave, Leesh, but I'm not letting you go without a fight.' That's what you said to me, so you can leave, Will, but I'm not letting you go without a fight, and it's going to be one hell of a fight, Will Gardner." She says fiercely as she walks up to him and slaps him hard across the face, the slap echoing around the office, tears slipping down her face before walking out of his office, Will and Diane staring after her but neither of them following her.

That was two months ago and she's not changed his mind and he leaves in 3 days.

She enters the ballroom, dressed in her new red dress, with Zach and Grace on either side of her. Diane has thrown a farewell party for her partner and has invited Alicia and her children, knowing that Zach and Grace are close to Will.

"Mom," Grace says as her daughter propels her forward, Alicia looks at her daughter. "are you sure you want to be here?" Grace asks, Alicia smiles at her daughter before Zach chimes in with his own 2 cents on the party. "Grace is right, Mom, it's not too late to turn back around, go home, order a pizza and watch movies all night." Alicia chuckles: these past two months her children have attempted to make Will's eventual leaving easier on her. "Guys, thank you, but I'll be fine, it's just Will." She says as convincingly as she can because it is just Will. They enter the ballroom together, pop music floating out of a surround system, waiters carrying around trays of champagne, an open bar serving drinks, Lockhart/Gardner employees and friends and family members speaking to each other. She sees Diane talking with Cary, Kurt and Justice beside her.

"Leesh!" A voice calls out. It's Will, coming towards them with a champagne flute in his hand, looking sexy in a tux, a smile on his face. "Hey guys, glad you could make it." He says as he gives Alicia a one armed hug. She leans into him, inhaling his cologne. Just as Alicia pulls away from Will and opens her mouth to speak, Grace squeals as a dog bark reaches their ears. "Justice!" Alicia watches with a smile on her face as her daughter goes running over to the dog, crashing to her knees and scratching the dog, her laughter echoing throughout the ballroom. She turns to her son. "Stick close to your sister and make sure she doesn't smuggle Justice home with us otherwise Diane will have my head on a platter." Zach chuckles before nodding, kissing her on the cheek and follows his little sister, leaving the 2 lawyers alone. "Come dance with me." Will says as he takes her hand and leads her to the dance floor.

Will holds her close as they dance, not speaking as they sway to the music.

Things have been tense between them since he told her and Diane he was leaving the firm, and she's used every trick in her playbook to try to get him to change his mind but he's the most stubborn man she's ever met and hasn't budged on his answer, even though she's spent the last two months fighting his decision.

"Will." She says quietly as she leans her head on his chest. Will sighs as he tightens his arms around her waist. "Don't, Alicia." He says as she removes her head from his chest and stares into his eyes. She swallows back tears.

"Will, don't leave. Please." She begs him. She doesn't beg, not for him, but if begging means he stays, she'll beg for the rest of her life. Will's eyes narrow as he twirls her around and catches her. "Alicia, I'm leaving and there's nothing you can do to get me to change my mind." He says harshly, tears pour down her face as it starts to hit her: Will will be leaving and there's nothing she can do, she can't fight him to stay in three days.

"There has to be something I can do!" She nearly shouts as they stop dancing. Will closes his eyes briefly before they open and lock on hers. "There's NOTHING you can say or do to make me change my mind, Alicia. I'm leaving." His voice is raised but not shouting: he can never shout at her. The party has gone silent as everyone watches the once inseparable duo fight again.

"What if I told you that I loved you?" She asks him quietly. She can feel Will, the kids, Diane, Cary and the rest of guests staring at her, but she's looking at Will.

"What did you just say to me?" Will asks, his voice cold. She looks into his eyes.

"I love you Will, I've always loved you, since Georgetown. Remember when I slipped on that patch of ice and sprained my ankle so bad I couldn't walk for a week? You carried me everywhere without asking everyday for a week. Remember when I lost my shoe on a night out after finals and I was drunk, drunker than I've ever been and you carried me back to your dorm room and put me to bed in your sweatshirt and stayed awake all night just so I'd be okay?" She questions him, Will doesn't answer her so she continues. "Those two incidents were when I  started to fall in love with you, Will!" She exclaims.

"I don't love you, Alicia, not anymore." Will answers her coldly. She gasps as her heart breaks into a thousand pieces. "W... what?" She asks, her voice wobbles, Will just looks at her, his face expressionless. "You heard me, Alicia. I don't love you anymore." Alicia feels the presence of her children on either side of her and Cary behind her, Justice whimpers by Grace's side. Alicia can't breathe as her tears choke her as they run down her face, blurring her vision.

"Goodbye, Alicia." Will tells her as he turns away, turning his back to her.

"Come on, Mom, let's get you out of here." Zach says quietly. Alicia stares at Will's back. She doesn't see Diane coming to stand in front of her, blocking her vision of Will's back, she doesn't see the way Diane, Cary, Zach and Grace share a look before Cary, Zach and Grace lead her out of the ballroom, she doesn't see as the driver open the car door that Diane arranged for them as all four of them get into it. She doesn't see the car pull up outside the apartment building, she doesn't see the look her partner and kids give each other as she walks into her bedroom, still in her dress  and heels. She doesn't see the sad look Cary gives her as he takes off her heels and covers her with a blanket before leaving her alone with her bedroom door ajar. She doesn't see the looks her children share as they come to lie on either side of her once Cary has left after telling the kids to call him if any of them need him.

All Alicia Cavanaugh sees is her heart breaking, Will's cold, expressionless face and the last chance to get him to stay with her as they all slip away from her forever.

The last chance she had to tell him she loves him has slipped away from her forever.

A\N: This is the most heartbreaking story I've ever written, not because Will is dead, but because he essentially killed Alicia with his words.

This had such a different ending than to the one I wrote.

I don't have any more stories planned or written as of today, I think I'm going to take a little bit of a break from writing because recently whenever I'm handwriting, my hand has been hurting so on the advice I've been given. I'm taking a break for a few days and just reading (who knows, maybe I'll find inspiration for new Willicia stories?).

Enjoy this heartbreaking Willicia oneshot, Angels and I'll see you in a few days.
