"SERA SERA SERA!" You excitedly swam to one of your sisters. You decided to go to Serafina since she was one of your more open-minded sisters.

"Mmmh... what..." she tiredly rose from where she was lying. You had just woken her up from her nap. You normally wouldn't have, but you were just so excited and you didn't think you could go to anyone else about this.

You swam into her arms, hugging her. She reciprocated, holding you tight in her arms. "What's got you so excited, sharky?"

Sharky was Serafina's nickname for you. Since she was the second youngest and you were the youngest of your pod, the two of you shared a bond like no other.

Serafina was the odd one out of your pod. She was born with albinism and on top of that, she was a runt. Her skin was very pale, at her wrists you could see her veins. Her hair was long, wavy, and white. It reached past her waist. Her eyes were a dreamy periwinkle color. Even more eye-catching, her scales were a bright white rather than the usual teal. Her being the runt, she was about your size when she should have been bigger.

She wasn't allowed to hunt, and would often swim around on the ocean floor. Her glimmering scales would be far too easy to spot and she'd be too at risk if she were at the surface with the rest of you.

"Well... y'know how I'd been disappearing at night for the past few weeks?" You moved slightly away from her as you began to speak.

"Yeah, I did think that was odd-" she could barely finish her sentence before you cut in with excitement. "Well, I met someone!!" You grinned happily at her.

"Yay!" Sera smiled back at you, she (rightfully) assumed you meant that you found someone you loved. "When will you introduce her to us? I'm sure Mother would be delighted to hear this."

You suddenly felt a bit nervous. You had conveniently left out that part where she was a human. No matter the gender, sirens didn't really like humans.

"Uhm... well." You nervously fidgeted with your fingers. There really was no easy way to put this. "This person... may or may not be a human." You looked away from Sera's widening gaze.

She stared at you in shock before furrowing her eyebrows and looking at you with concern. "Y/N-" "I know! I know! She's just- She's so nice! A-And I've never felt this way about anyone before!" You wore a face of worry and nervousness.

Serafina was quiet for a second as she stared at you with concern. Her gaze slightly softened and she sighed, running a hand through her white locks.

"Mother absolutely cannot know about this." She began, your expression brightened at her words. "I'll trust you. I'll trust that she's a good person." Sera grabbed your hand. "Please, promise you'll be careful. I don't know what I'd do if I lost you." Her gaze was full of concern.

"Of course. I promise you." You smiled softly at her. "Would you like to see her? She brought something called a Polaroid camera with her and took a picture of us." You rummaged around in your bag for a second.

You pulled out the Polaroid. It was a picture of you and Demeter. The Polaroid itself had a special cover on it to make it water-safe. Demeter guessed that you'd want one so she came prepared. She is so smart.

In the picture, Demeter looks perfect. She's smiling widely and holding up the peace sign. You were next to her, staring menacingly into the camera. You were smiling, but it was a little scary since you had such razor-sharp teeth. Your eyes did that thing where they reflect light and it makes it look like your iris is glowing. You were also holding up a peace sign, though you looked far more awkward than Demeter. You looked kind of feral. Despite all of that, you adored this photo.

You handed it to Serafina. She gently took it, staring at the photo for a few seconds. Her eyesight wasn't the best, so she was squinting. She eventually smiled softly and handed the photo back to you.

"You look happy." She gazed at you with warmth. "As long as you're happy, Sharky, I'm happy." Sera pulled you into a gentle hug and planted a kiss on your forehead.

"Thank you, Sera. I knew I could come to you." You mumbled as you hugged her tighter.

"I love you, sharky."

"I love you too, Sera."
