After leaving Disney Town, Hikari was told by Ventus that he's still gonna go after Terra so she decided to go to a small world that has a beach: The Destiny Islands. Hikari had a plan to surprise Ventus, Terra and Aqua. She is going to collect seashells to put for their collection. After collecting all the seashells, Hikari was bored but the Unversed appeared out of nowhere.

"Well, look what came to cure my boredom," Hikari said as she summoned her Counterpoint Keyblade and defeats all the Unversed.

After beating the Unversed, Hikari knew that the Destiny Islands is very small and was starting to get bored again.

"This world..." Hikari sighed. "...is just too small."

An unexpected voice surprised Hikari. "Small indeed." It was Master Xehanort.

Hikari looked at Xehanort. "When did you get here, old man?"

"Recently, perhaps," Xehanort smirked. "And I've been keeping tabs on you, my dear. And it's time you knew about the first princess. The first princess of Kingdom Hearts before you."

"The first princess of Kingdom Hearts?" Hikari looked confused.

"Yes," Xehanort said as he began the story. "Once upon a time, in the age of fairy tales, the World was filled with light—a gift, many believed, from an unseen power known as "Kingdom Hearts.""

"Kingdom Hearts..." Hikari muttered. "From what my parents and my grandparents told me a long time ago, they said it's not really a heart shaped moon."

"You're right," Xehanort said as he continues the story. "Kingdom Hearts is no moon. It is the heart of all worlds. The first princess of Kingdom Hearts has been granted the power she desired. The power of light. And the power of darkness. She realized that Kingdom Hearts has another counterpart... the ultimate key: The all-powerful χ-blade!"

"Uhhhh... did you say Keyblade?" Hikari asked, mispronouncing χ-blade.

"Not the Keyblade you wield, young one," Xehanort shook his head as he holds out his hand and the x appeared on his hand. ""χ"... A most ancient letter. Some say "kye," but the meaning is the same. Death... A letter that spells endings." Then, he continued the story. "Keyblade wielders had vied for that precious light, thus beginning the "Keyblade War." The violent clash shattered the χ-blade into twenty pieces—seven of light, and thirteen of darkness. And the princess knew that the one true Kingdom Hearts was swallowed by the darkness, never to surface again."

"So then..." Hikari said to the old man. "What about the worlds? Will they be covered by the darkness?"

"No," Master Xehanort shook his head again. "Not all the worlds, but the world in legend did once. We know so little about the Keyblade War—only that it was just the beginning. Amidst that crisis a precious light was found. It is a curious tale—and one worth exploring. They say ruin brings about creation. So what, then, would another Keyblade War bring? When the darkness falls, will we be found worthy of the precious light the legend speaks of?"

Hikari knew what Xehanort is up to and glared at him. "So you just came to tell me the story so you can force me to—"

"Play your part as the second princess of Kingdom Hearts?" Xehanort finished. "Yes... And you will at a fated place where all Keyblade wielders leave their mark on fate—the Keyblade Graveyard! There you will bear witness the downfall of your friends: Ventus' clash with Vanitas will forge the χ-blade, Aqua's demise will be swift and Terra will succumb to the darkness. And sooner or later, your destiny as a Princess of Kingdom Hearts will be fulfilled!"

Hikari watched as Master Xehanort walked into the dark corridor. "No..." she gasped. Then, she pulled out her red Wayfinder. "Terra... Aqua... Ven... I can't let this nightmare come true."

Hours have passed and Hikari was sitting on the paopu tree, worrying about Terra, Ventus and Aqua's downfall that Master Xehanort had mentioned and writing on her diary until Aqua arrived.

"Hey, Hikari," Aqua said. "Whatcha doing all by yourself?"

"Well... I..." Hikari said, trying not to mention what Master Xehanort had said to her earlier. "Nothing, Aqua. Nothing at all."

Aqua nodded and looks at the sunset, holding her blue Wayfinder. "Terra... Ven... I hope we're ready for the storm that's coming."

Hikari continued writing on her diary until she heard a voice. "Hey, wait up!" She saw two young boys racing under the bridge. One with spiky brown hair and one with silver hair. "Too slow, Sora! See ya at the finish line!" The silver haired boy said to Sora.

Sora panted as he gets exhausted. "One more time! You just got lucky," he told the silver haired boy.

Then, the two boys looked up to see Aqua and Hikari arriving on the bridge and jumps down to look at them.

"This boy looks so sincere—just like Terra," Aqua said to Hikari, looking at the silver haired boy.

"I know," Hikari said. Then, she looked over at Sora. "And this one—he's the spitting image of Ven."

Aqua agreed. "Yeah. One of them might be special enough."

Hikari nodded as she turns to Sora and the silver haired boy. "Hey, you two mind telling me your names?"

"I'm Sora!" Sora introduced.

Aqua smiled and looks at the silver haired boy. "And you?"

"Riku," the silver haired boy replied.

Aqua sensed something inside Riku. "Someone has already passed this boy the power. Was it Terra?"

Hikari shrugged and turns to Sora. "Sora, do you like Riku?"

Sora smiled at Aqua and Hikari. "Of course I like him, he's my best friend!"

"That's good," Hikari smiled back.

"So then, if something happens, and Riku is about to get lost—or say, he starts wandering down a dark path alone—you make sure to stay with him and keep him safe," Aqua said to Sora.

"Aqua's right, Sora," Hikari said as Sora and Riku exchanges looks. "And that is your job. We're counting on you to do it, okay?"

Aqua laughed as she pats both Sora and Riku's heads. Then, the two boys left to the dock to get on the boat. A little later... Aqua sat on the tree with Hikari. "One Keyblade is enough...for any friendship.," Aqua said to Hikari. "We learned it the hard way."

Hikari nodded. "Well... we wouldn't wish our lives on those children."

Aqua looked at her Wayfinder. "Terra, please tell me—what's to become of us?"

After Aqua and Hikari left the Destiny Islands, the two girls went to search for Terra and Ventus until they saw something.

"Aqua, look!" Hikari said, pointing to something in the distance. "There's something up ahead."

Aqua took a look and saw something as well. It was King Mickey! And he was unconscious for unknown reasons. "Is that...Mickey?"

Hikari was surprised that King Mickey was up ahead. "It must be." She and Aqua stopped to look at their unconscious friend. "And he's out cold," Hikari said. "How'd this happen?"

King Mickey, still unconscious, began to speak. "Master Yen...Sid..."

"Master Yen Sid," Hikari gasped and turns to Aqua. "Aqua, we gotta take Mickey back to his master. I know where he lives."

"Okay, Hikari," Aqua nodded. "Let's take him back to him." Without a moment to waste, Aqua and Hikari took an unconscious King Mickey to find Master Yen Sid.
