I'm Night, I'm fierce, I survived them, I can take on this person!
I found myself staring up at the building whoever I was chasing just climbed. I could still see her, and I was ready to shoot. Somehow I had missed several shots, and then missed three more times when she had shot back. Next question was, where the heck did her bow come from? I slowly crept out from behind the bush I was crouched behind.
I glared up at her. "Who, are you?"
She stared down at me, obviously also angered. "Natalie Lensen. Mind telling me your name?!"
"I'm Night."
She still didn't look pleased. Was that too simple, those two words...? Did I need to add more to the sentence?
After a couple long moments, she started climbing down. "Why'd you shoot me?"
I kept my aim on her, following her down the pipe. "I shot you, because you were on... I guess what I can call my territory."
Humans were territorial..? I guess it doesn't matter, actually. She had gotten too close to me, and had a weapon that fell from the sky or something. I still don't know where it came from.
When she got to the ground and started walking towards me, I could see she was limping heavily. Maybe I didn't miss...
She finally sat down on a tree stump, and stared down at her ankle.
"So, it required you shooting at me, to get me out of it?! All you had to do was ASK me to leave, like a NORMAL person, and I would have!"
"Normal" person?! What was she talking about?! I'm not normal, FAR from it! Heck, was there even normal in this world anymore? Bows that come from nowhere, apparently aggression everywhere, and I'm magic. Yes, magic.
Even more angered, I shot the ground near her. She flinched, but didn't stand to run away.
Oh yeah, the magic thing... I am a Mage, a WaterMage to be exact. I'm not the most powerful thing, but I can control water, trap people in bubbles and drown them, and sometimes even fall from the sky, and manage to catch myself in a pool of water. But that doesn't matter. Not yet, anyway...
Sighing, I put my crossbow back on my back. It was ice blue. I've had it ever since...
I shook my head. "Okay. Maybe shooting at you was a bad idea, but why fire back instead of just running away?"
She glared, her eyes starting to blaze in anger again. "What, and be a coward? I can defend myself if I want and need to. You weren't defending, just attacking."
I picked up the arrow, and waved it around in the air. "Hooray for attacking people!"
When she stayed silent, I put the arrow back in the quiver on my back. "I don't have time for this."
I turned, and started walking down a trail of mine, which led to my home. I heard a small sound from Natalie, and stopped. A feeling of guilt washed over me. I didn't mean to shoot her...
I looked over my shoulder. "I'm.. Sorry. If you need anything, you can come with me."
"No. I'm fine." She stood, obviously trying to hide the fact that she was still bleeding.
"Alright then." I turned back around, and continued walking.
Silence.
I turned around again. "No, seriously, if you die because of that wound, I'm in even more trouble."
I walked over her, and picked her up. I didn't care if she found it strange. I turned and continued down the path to my home.
