Wooyoung pretended to faint into Sans arms, the older clinging onto him to prevent him from falling, while Mingi called nervously for Yunho so he could reassure him that their captain was joking, and he came, Jongho and Yeosang followed.

"What happened?" The maknae asked, looking bewilderedly between the two on the floor and his crew mates also staring at them.

"Apparently, Hongjoong got married to a mermaid." San replied, not as riled up as a few of the others, but still shocked.

Everyone was in confusion, and Hongjoong didn't blame them. He began to stand up, his pants still soaking, shirt thrown to the side, as he caressed Seonghwas pink locks, looking fondly at him.

"You okay to wait here while I talk to them?" He nodded, a blush settled on his face that had been there since Hongjoong confessed they were married. "I'll be back soon, don't run off on me." The captain winked, then ushered his crew inside, stealing one last glance at the beauty on the edge of his ship.

They all waited patiently as he changed his clothes, and by patiently I mean they were whining, yelling, and wreaking havoc as the eldest removed his wet bottoms and out on new ones, along with another shirt. Hongjoong sighed at the headache that was forming, but then again, it wouldn't be his Ateez unless they were constantly screaming.

After out of his soggy outfit and into a more comfortable choice of clothing, he entered the main room of the ship, sitting down in the midst of the chaos. Upon seeing him, the kids were quick to huddle close, looking at him expectantly.

"How do you like my ring?" He showed his finger, all of them widening their eyes as they realized that he may really be married to the majestic creature they saw, only some taking the time to actually inspect the carefully crafted object, the rest already waiting for an explanation.

"How?" Yunho was the first to question, all still baffled.

"Seonghwa isn't a mermaid.....he's a siren." The volume immediately increased, half more expressing their confusion, the other half angry and near ready to tell Seonghwa off. They didn't want a siren on their ship. "Listen, all of you." He used his stern voice, immediately catching their attention once more. "Seonghwa...he's not...bad, I guess?"

"What's that supposed to mean!" Wooyoung yelled, "Hyung, do you know what sirens do to pirates! Their entire purpose!?"

"I understand, Wooyoung, but Seonghwa isn't like that. He doesn't feed on humans, or any kind of meat at all, and he's nothing like the other sirens."

"Other sirens? Where exactly did you go this morning?" Being the one he told about going out, Jongho asked for the truth, certain by then that it wasn't food he left for.

"I went to get married....you must understand, Seonghwa, being as incredible as he is, was treated very indifferently in Anthemoessa, his 'home'. And because of that, I offered to let him stay with us, because I know for a fact that he is absolutely harmless. But I suppose it's their law, or just something necessary, that he must be married beforehand, married to me. That is why I left. I went to Anthemoessa and the two of us wed. We are not a couple, not dating or anything of the sort. You can think of it as an arranged marriage." As the group processed it, a quiet voice was heard.

"Then why'd you give him that ring..." Yeosang asked quietly, knowing how important the object was to him, and Hongjoong sighed, still somewhat proud of how attentive he was but wishing he didn't have to explain himself.

"You may think me crazy, really...but...I believe that something will grow between us. Someday, maybe it won't be just an arranged marriage after all." He ended the sentence with a shy smile, and the crew looked skeptical, because they'd never seen that smile on him before. "I-I understand that it seems wrong, I really do, but I assure you, Seonghwa will bring no harm to us. You know I'd never do anything to hurt you." As he spoke, he looked at Wooyoung especially, seeing how he was effected by the situation.

"Does that mean we can go talk to him?" Mingi asked, his nonexistent social queues helping him in going oblivious to the tension in the air. But it made Hongjoong crack a smile nonetheless, grateful for him lightening the mood a bit.

"Of course you can. In fact, I hope you all can be close with him." The tall male was quick to jump to his feet, dragging Yunho out with him while yelling for the others to join. Jongho and Yeosang did, happily, Wooyoung nodding for San to follow them so he could speak a moment with Hongjoong.

"Hyung~" He started, not knowing exactly how to voice his thoughts.

"I know. You don't agree right? You think I shouldn't feel that way?"

"That's not what I'm trying to say hyung, I'm just worried about you and everyone else."

"I mean it Woo, Seonghwa cannot and will not hurt anyone."

"How can you be so sure! How am I supposed to trust someone like that after they-"

"I get your anger, but that wasn't Seonghwas doing. In fact, it could have been an entirely different species from an entirely different ocean. You can't blame him for it, nor resent him and refuse to get to know him because of it." Wooyoung pouted, eyes teary, and Hongjoong stood up to pull him into a hug, even if hugs weren't exactly his area of expertise.

"Y-you're right hyung, I-I know you are, but I just can't help but be scared.." He sniffed.

"It's okay, we'll take it slowly, hm?" All he got was a nod, and the two sat in each other's embrace, that was until....

"HYUNG DID YOU KNOW SEONGHWA CAN TURN INTO A HUMAN!"
