After a week of travel, Nick and Aela finally arrived at the city of Arcadia. Despite the intimidating sight of the massive metal beast, the city guards held their ground. Aela, exiting from a hatch in Nick, explained that she was a monster tamer and that Nick was her pet. Although a bit annoyed at being referred to as a pet, Nick understood Aela's reasoning. The guards, although wary, allowed them to enter the city, warning them not to cause any mischief.
As they entered the city, they were greeted by a beautiful sight. The city was bustling with activity, and everywhere they went, people stole glances at Nick, marveling at the unknown beast and the powerful elf who had tamed it. During their exploration, Nick activated his autopilot and discovered that his AI had advanced enough to gain its own stats. He decided to name the AI 'Wisdom' or 'Wiz' for short, a name that the AI seemed to like.
Their exploration led them to a weapons shop where they were greeted by the blacksmith, who praised Aela for taming such a unique beast. Nick, observing the weapons from outside, used Wiz to calculate the swords' weight, length, and cutting capabilities. He then initiated a conversation with Aela, asking her if she was used to fighting monsters. Aela replied in the negative, leading Nick to pause the conversation as she continued talking with the blacksmith, who introduced himself as Cedric Hammerstone.
After their encounter with Cedric, Aela suggested to Nick that they could become adventurers to earn a stable income. With Nick's power, they could complete many quests. Upon arriving at the guild, they were met with mixed reactions from the adventurers. Some held grudges against elves and believed that elves were undeserving of taming such a beast, while others were peaceful and curious about the metal beast.
Aela asked Nick how many quests he could do, to which he confidently replied that he could do all of them and even pull an all-nighter to finish them all by tomorrow. With that, Aela took all of the quests, went inside Nick, and Nick, true to his word, pulled an all-nighter, marking the start of their adventurous life in the city of Arcadia.
The following day marked a significant achievement for Nick and Aela. They arrived at the guild with proof of their completed quests - a vast collection of monster carcasses. The adventurers and guild staff were taken aback by the sheer volume of their accomplishment. Some praised Aela and her formidable beast, Nick, while others, driven by envy, harbored desires to possess Nick.
With the substantial amount of money they had earned, Aela organized a celebration. She requested the guild staff to allow Nick to join the festivities. The staff agreed, and the adventurers were thrilled to see Nick up close. They bombarded Aela with questions about him, to which she responded selectively, keeping some crucial information to herself.
After the celebration, Aela rented a small stable for Nick to rest. Meanwhile, she spent the night comfortably inside Nick, marking the end of an eventful day. Their bond had grown stronger, and their reputation in the guild had skyrocketed.
The news of Nick, the metal beast, had reached the ears of the great noble of Arcadia. Intrigued by the tales of an elegant and powerful beast, he expressed his interest. The adventurers, eager to please the noble, suggested that he should claim the beast for himself, away from Aela, the elf who had tamed it.
The noble's son, upon hearing about Nick, was captivated by the idea of possessing such a unique creature. He stood up, his eyes gleaming with anticipation, and declared, "I want that metal beast. Bring it to me."
The morning brought an unexpected turn of events. A group of horsemen, sent by the son of the great noble Craven, arrived at the farm where Nick and Aela had spent the night. Nick, who had been trying to maneuver in the cramped space of the stable, finally managed to exit and noticed the soldiers talking to the farmer. Sensing something was amiss, he woke Aela and informed her of the situation.
Aela, upon hearing the news, immediately confronted the soldiers. They presented her with a letter from Lord Craven, stating that the possession of a powerful monster was against the rules and that such a monster should be confiscated by the government. Aela, confused and annoyed by this arbitrary rule, refused to comply. Nick, too, expressed his displeasure with an aggressive growl.
Craven, hearing the commotion, stepped out of his carriage and approached Aela. In a disrespectful manner, he demanded that she hand over her 'pet'. But Aela stood her ground, refusing to give up Nick. The situation was escalating, and it was clear that a peaceful resolution might not be possible. The tension was palpable as everyone awaited the next move.
Craven, frustrated that he couldn't easily get what he wanted, grabbed a spear from one of his soldiers. He pointed it at Aela and demanded that his wish be granted. Nick, equally annoyed, snapped and instructed Aela to take refuge inside him, which she did promptly.
Nick then fired a high-explosive round at a nearby tree. The impact was so powerful that it obliterated the tree, leaving behind nothing but a crater and a pile of dust. Nick then aimed his main gun at Craven, who was cowering in fear. Despite his fear, Craven still demanded that Nick obey his orders.
In response, Nick shot Craven's leg using his secondary gun. The situation had escalated quickly, and it was clear that Nick was not a beast to be trifled with. His actions sent a clear message to Craven and everyone present - he was not a pet to be claimed, but a powerful ally to be respected
Craven, with his bleeding leg, was growing weaker by the minute. The guards, terrified by the sight of Nick, pointed their swords at him and demanded his surrender. In response, Nick roared his engine, instilling even more fear in the soldiers. Aela emerged from Nick's hatch and addressed the soldiers, "You want to save yourselves and your incompetent lord? Run." The soldiers, taking her advice, immediately fled the area with Craven.
Back at the noble's residence, the great noble was furious upon hearing about his son's encounter with Nick. "What! They dare touch my son!" he exclaimed. His soldiers suggested seeking help from the kingdom itself, acknowledging that Nick was too powerful for them to handle. The great noble agreed and yelled, "Very well!"
News about Nick and Aela quickly spread throughout the city. To avoid further complications, Nick decided to leave the city.
