Five weeks had passed since the rumors about Nick and Aela had finally disappeared. The kingdom was abuzz with tales of their adventures, but as time passed, the stories faded into the background, replaced by the everyday concerns of the kingdom's inhabitants. Justice had been served to Craven, the instigator of the rumors, restoring a sense of peace and order to the kingdom. The duo found themselves in a period of relative peace, a welcome respite from their previous adventures.
One day, as the sun was setting and painting the sky with hues of orange and purple, Nick turned to Aela. His eyes sparkled with a familiar excitement as he suggested, "Hey Aela, why don't we go to the western city?" His voice echoed in the quiet surroundings, breaking the peaceful silence.
Aela, who was gazing at the setting sun, turned to look at Nick. She nodded in agreement, her eyes reflecting the dying embers of the sun. "Yes, I do think that the rumors about us have disappeared because there aren't any adventurers trying to chase us." Her voice was soft, barely above a whisper, yet it carried a sense of determination and resolve.
With a grin that stretched from ear to ear, Nick revved up the engine of their metal beast. The sound was deafening, a roar that echoed across the plains and sent a flock of birds flying into the sky. "Alright, strap your seatbelts and get ready for a ride." His voice was filled with excitement, a stark contrast to the peaceful surroundings.
The engine roared loudly as they zoomed right across the plains, leaving a trail of dust in their wake. They passed through the lush green forest, the trees a blur of green as they sped past. They climbed the mountainous peaks, the cold wind whipping their faces, until they reached the snow village nestled in the mountains.
Nick sighed in relief as they reached their destination. "Whoo, that amount of horsepower literally took me at the speeds of 6 with, I dunno, 221 0's? Well, that didn't take long. We're already near the snowy village. Hey, Aela, wake up!" His voice echoed in the quiet surroundings, breaking the peaceful silence.
Aela, who had been trying to catch some sleep during the journey, woke up annoyed. She rubbed her eyes, trying to adjust to the bright light. "Nick! We left in the afternoon, and you're saying we're already there? It says here on your complicated glass-like screen that it's still afternoon?" Her voice was filled with disbelief, yet there was a hint of amusement in her tone.
Nick activated all the screens covering his interior, transforming the inside of the metal beast into a 4D experience. The screens showed a panoramic view of the outside, making it seem as if they were not inside the metal beast but out in the open. Aela, amazed by Nick's abilities, praised him and finally decided to come out. With her coat on to protect her from the cold, she walked through the snow and into the gates of the snow village.
The guards were wary at the sight of Nick, their hands trembling as they held their spears. But Aela reassured them, her voice calm and soothing. "Don't worry! He is my friend. He will not hurt you." As they watched him enter the village, the villagers were surprised. They stumbled and fell on their butts, their faces a picture of shock and awe.
"Don't worry! He is my friend. He will not hurt you," Aela announced, her voice echoing in the silent village. The village chief's son, Arc, turned to his father, his eyes wide with fear and curiosity. "Father, what should we do with them?"
The village chief raised his hand, signaling for silence. The villagers fell silent, their eyes fixed on the chief. The village chief smiled and said, "Oh, Aela, my child, have you forgotten me?" His voice was filled with warmth and affection.
Aela yelled in surprise, "Uncle!?" She rushed to him and hugged him, her face buried in his chest. They comfortably spent the night inside the village, their hearts filled with a sense of belonging and warmth. The village, which had been filled with fear and apprehension, now welcomed them with open arms, a testament to the power of love and understanding.
As the sun rose the following day, casting a warm golden glow over the landscape, Aela began to pack up her belongings. She moved with a sense of purpose, her actions methodical and efficient. They were ready to continue their journey to the city, a new destination filled with unknown adventures and possibilities.
Arc, who had decided to join them on their journey, explained his situation. He was a shop owner, a businessman who managed his affairs in the city. His decision to join them was not just for the thrill of adventure, but also for the prospects it held for his business.
Aela, understanding the potential benefits of having Arc with them, invited him inside Nick. Arc stepped into the metal beast, his eyes wide with awe and wonder. The intricate mechanisms, the sleek design, the sheer beauty of the interior left him amazed. It was like stepping into another world, a world where technology and magic coexisted.
Nick, now with Arc onboard, started to travel at a decent speed. It was not too fast to miss the beauty of the journey, yet not too slow to make the journey tedious. Arc took his place in the control seat, a seat that was a combination of all three seats in a tank - the driver, gunner, and commander. The interior of Nick was designed with efficiency in mind, maximizing space by storing the autoloader and ammunition in the chassis.
Suddenly, Wiz, Nick's second consciousness, greeted Arc. "Hello," it said, its voice echoing in the confines of the metal beast. Startled, Arc asked who it was. Aela, with a smile, explained that Wiz was Nick's second consciousness, an artificial intelligence capable of learning and remembering anything Nick encountered. Arc was in awe, finding himself face-to-face with such an intelligent being.
Intrigued, Arc pointed at the controls on the control seat and asked how to use them. Wiz, with its ever-helpful demeanor, explained that the wheel below could be pulled out for driver mode, and the joystick on the table was used for gunner mode. Wiz then activated the monitor in front of the control seat to show a third-person view from the back of the tank. Arc was amazed at this function and attempted to control Nick, but Nick was in full control. The tank Arc was seeing on the screen was just a simulation, much like the game "World of Tanks".
After a few minutes of travel, Nick stopped by the city gate and informed Aela. Aela, with her natural charm and diplomacy, spoke to the guards. After a brief conversation, they were finally allowed to enter. Just like the people from the south city, everyone was intimidated by Nick's appearance. But with Aela's reassurance, they were able to make their way into the city.
