I stomped through the school corridors, trying to calm my racing heart. Seriously, who was this Hazel Hunt? Was she secretly a superhero or just blessed with superhuman abilities? How could she breeze through all that exercise without breaking a sweat?

"Argh!" I exclaimed, slamming my fist into a nearby locker.

"Hey, boss!" Charlie's voice called out behind me.

I glanced over my shoulder to see Charlie hurrying to catch up.

"What's up?" I muttered, not bothering to look at him as he fell into step beside me.

"Didn't go as planned, huh?" Charlie asked, trying to sound sympathetic.

"What gave it away?" I retorted. "My shitty mood or the fast spreading rumors caused by all these bastard!?" I yelled gesturing angrily towards the crowd of students heading to their last class of the day.

"Boss, you gotta calm down," Charlie urged  on, his voice filled with concern.

I scoffed, not bothering to acknowledge his presence. How could he understand the burning rage that consumed me? How could he comprehend the humiliation of being bested by a girl, especially one like Hazel?

I brushed off Charlie's attempt at concern. "Forget it," I muttered, striding away from the conversation.

"Um, hey, class is this way," Charlie pointed out, his voice tinged with nervousness.

"Yeah, and?" I replied, already anticipating his next words.

"Boss, please don't tell me you're ditching again," Charlie pleaded, his expression betraying his anxiety.

"So what if I am?" I shot back, meeting Charlie's gaze head-on.

"Boss, you know the teachers don't like that," he reminded me, his tone pleading. "And didn't you just have a meeting with the principal a few weeks ago? And what about your dad? I know that he..."

"That's enough," I interrupted sharply, fighting the urge to punch Charlie in frustration.

"Do I look like I give a crap what those damn teachers think?" I snarled, yanking Charlie's collar in my fist. "Screw 'em, and screw anyone who tries to mess with me!" I barked, letting go of Charlie's collar and striding off, leaving him standing there like a lost puppy.
