this is a stotram dedicated to lord ayyappa, the lord of shabrimala.
lord ayyappa, also known as dharmashastha, is said to be the son of mohini, the female incarnation of shri hari and hara, mahadev.
so, he earned the name hariharathmaja.
the stotram harivarasanam has 8 stanzas, so an ashtakam.
not sure about the composer, but knows .
this stotram is sung or rather played , at night in the temple of the lord as his lullaby.
usually, the stotram was sung to the lord by the pujari.
but after k.j.yeshudas's song had come to popularity, its beeing played in the temple.
when the stotram reaches its half, it is said the pujari puts out all the lambs and slowly moves out the sanctom santoram, garbhagriha, shrikovil.
