It was February 13th. Jeff had been on the lookout for clues about Valentine's day over the last week since seeing that search on Alan's laptop but he had come up empty. Alan also hadn't said a word about it. Nothing at all. Jeff wasn't really bothered, he told himself. He'd never been in a relationship before so these kinds of couple holidays had never been of any significance to him.

He really wasn't at all bothered about February 14th.

But, since it seemed that Alan was bothered about it then it would only be right for him to take an interest too. Yeah, he was doing this for Alan's sake.

There had been a couple more odd occasions with Alan over the last seven days. Jeff had walked into his office unannounced one time and Alan had very quickly pretended to be on the phone, which Jeff knew not to be true seeing as he was holding it upside down. A few days later he had walked into the locker room, finding Alan talking on the phone this time, only for him to swiftly leave when he saw Jeff. He was definitely up to something, Jeff thought. But what?

Charlie spotted Jeff sitting outside the garage, the morning Sun blazing down on him. He looked deep in thought.

"Hey Jeff. You look like you have something on your mind", Charlie spoke softly.

Jeff looked round at his brother. He didn't like to talk about relationship matters with anyone, it was private after all, but he was new to all of this and he needed some advice. Desperate times and all that.

"I think Lung might be planning something for Valentine's Day tomorrow, but I have no idea what it is. He's been acting very oddly this last week and it's driving me mad not knowing", Jeff admitted meekly.

Charlie smiled, "Of course he's planning something. This is your first Valentine's Day together"

Jeff looked worried, "Well why? It's just another day, it doesn't really mean anything".

He really is clueless, Charlie thought. "Bro. You know Uncle is crazy about you. He wants to make you happy. And you know how romantic he can be, he probably just wants to do something special so you know how much you mean to him". Charlie placed a reassuring hand on Jeff's shoulder.

Now Jeff was really worried. "So do you think I should have planned something for him too? This is all new to me, I don't know what I should be doing" He rubbed his forehead as he spoke.

"There isn't anything you should be doing Jeff. Just do what feels right for the both of you. If you find all this overwhelming then don't force it. But I'm sure Alan would appreciate a little gift of some sort. It doesn't have to be anything big or expensive, just something you think he'd like or get pleasure out of". Charlie smiled and stood up before leaving Jeff with his thoughts.

Hmm.. something he would get pleasure out of, Jeff said to himself. He thought for a moment then jumped up and headed into the workshop. Alan was standing in the kitchen making a drink.

"Oh Nu you want a drink?" he asked, smiling.

Jeff shook his head, "No thanks Lung. Can I go out for a bit? Something I need to sort out at..err..the college"

Alan nodded, "Sure, you want me to drive you?" he offered

"NO!" Jeff shot back sharply. "I mean no, thank you Lung. I'll see you later" He placed a small discreet kiss on Alan's cheek as he left, leaving the old mechanic beaming.

After they all left the garage at the end of the day, Alan and Jeff spent a quiet evening at home, eating dinner and watching a movie. It was the same as every other evening, except there was an air of suspense floating around the room. Awkward glances and smiles flew back and forth, mainly from Alan. Jeff knew that he was planning something and he was clearly nervous about it. Jeff tried to make conversation in an attempt to help Alan relax,

"So tomorrow.." He began but was interrupted almost immediately.

"Tomorrow? What's tomorrow? Just another day at the garage" Alan said hurriedly as he got up from the sofa and walked into the kitchen.

Jeff sighed. That was it he couldn't take anymore of this.

"Lung." He said following Alan into the kitchen, "I know it's Valentine's Day tomorrow. If you have something planned then just tell me and if you don't, well that's fine too. But you've been acting really skittish this last week and I can't take anymore of it".

Alan glared at his boyfriend. He guessed he had been acting a little out of character. He hummed quietly then leant forward and grabbed Jeff's wrist, pulling him out of the kitchen and up the stairs.

"Lung, what are you doing?" Jeff asked as he was silently swept up the stairs and into the bedroom.

Alan stopped by the bed. Ah so this is what is happening, Jeff thought. Alan turned toward the wardrobe and opened the door, Jeff started to take his top off.

"What are you doing?" Alan asked when he looked back around to see Jeff with his shirt half way over his head.

"Oh..I thought..wait why are you holding a suitcase?" Jeff pulled his shirt back on as he spoke.

Alan smiled shyly, "Pack it. We're going on a trip for a few days. Valentine's Day surprise. Well it should've been for tomorrow but, well you know", his voice trailed off.

Jeff stood silently looking at the suitcase that Alan had now placed on the bed. So this is what he was planning. He'd organised a trip for the two of them.

"Where are we going?" he asked.

Alan stepped forward, shortening the distance between them. "That's the surprise bit". He smiled confidently, taking a few more steps forward until there was no space left between them.

"Also, why is your shirt back on?"
