The rest of the day passed like a breeze.
When it was time to leave, I put my books in my locker and saw a yellow note sticking to the side of the metal door.

Don't think you'll get it easy. You better watch your back Kate. -B'

What does this even mean? What was is it that I got? I tried to think of anyone whose name starts with the letter B and has something against me. Brenda? No, we used to be friends. Okay let me think.. Brooke? I mean all I did was spill my apple juice on her in fourth grade, I don't think she'd hold that kind of grudge.

Unless - I gasped. Could it be Brad? He did give me the nasty eye for some reason today. But why would he send me this note when I haven't done anything to him?

"You look like you've seen a ghost. That or you're mimicking my grandpa when he wakes up during a football game. We yell 'goal' and he's like: 'Where's the fire? Call 9-1-1!' ", said Sam, flailing her arms around like her grandpa would; I guess.

I couldn't help but laugh at her weird family members. Well they're all weird so it must be in the genes.

"No Sam, it's neither of those."
I then handed her the note and watched her face expressions go from curious to confused to shocked then finally angry. And obviously, since me and her think the same - at least most of the time - she assumed Brad was behind it.

"I'm gonna kill him! Who does he think he is??? I'm gonna chop his arms off with a chainsaw and feed them to the do-"

"Whoah! Sam! Let's not get ahead of ourselves. It may or may not be him."

She gave me the are-you-stupid look.
I sighed,"No I'm not stupid I just don't want to start pointing fingers. Plus we dont have any evidence showing it's him."

"Riiiiight." She obviously didn't believe me. "Like there's anyone else in this school whose name starts with a B and hates us for some reason."

I ignored her and made my way to my car. Siting on the hood, resting was Jack. Does he know that's my car or did he just want to rest his bum somewhere?

"Hey Kate!", he greeted.

"Oh hey Jack." I replied, then almost immediately blurted, "How'd you know that was my car?"

He looked at me like I was stupid and said, "You two are the only ones left. You spent a pretty long time chatting on god knows what. That, and I saw you in the morning in the parking lot so I remembered your car."

I looked at him sheepishly and said, "Yeah we didn't really pay attention."

Sam looked like she was about to mention the note but I was quicker than her.
"So not to sound rude or anything, but did you want something?" I rushed.

"Oh yeah I was wondering if you'd like to hang out with me later today, you know like watch a movie or something."

"Oh um.. Sure that would be great." I smiled and straightened my backpack strap on my shoulder.

"Cool. Give me your number and I'll text you the details."

We exchanged numbers and Sam was looking at us the whole time with a smug smile on her face. When he was out of earshot, she said, " See? I knew that dress would come in handy."

At least she forgot about the note...

"Oh please he would've talked to me with or without the dress. And no I don't mean being naked, I mean that it wouldn't make a difference if I just wore my ripped jeans and blouse," I explained.
