The clock chimed as it was 8:00. Time to go to the ball. All the lovely gentlemen, and especially the ladies, headed off in charming carriages. One in particular was coming to the manor to pick up the brothers and their mother. Three was closing up the cafe when he saw the carriage pull up. He said nothing and slowly made his way inside. knocking on the door to a room, he silently awaited the response. Nerissa opened the door, wearing a pinkish blue dress and answered "Yes?"
"The carriage is here." Nerissa nodded as Three trailed over to his room. "Why Three, you're not ready." Three stoped and said with a slightly annoyed tone "I'm not going." The boys peaked their heads out to hear what their stepbrother had said. "Oh what a shame." Neirssa hid a pleasing smile while Mario and Luigi chuckled. Three could hear the snickering from behind him so to shut them he said sternly "Good night."
Three crept into his dark and timid room while muttering "Why would I have wanted to go to that stupid ball anyway..." He leaned on the window, arms crossed while trying to convince himself that he was better off alone. The brightly lit castle, shining in the moonlight taunted him. "After all, it would be lame and boring and-" He stopped. No. He really did want to go. He truly did want to hang out with his friends (and maybe even see the prince). "It would have been wonderful." He had blew his chance.
A bright light crept up behind him. Three turned to see a most stunning surprise. Eggdog had opened the closet to reveal a tremendously handsome suit. It was purple, shiny, had gold buttons, and a dashing red tie. Eggdog even had prepared a cute bow that had a skeleton symbol on it. Eggdog started barking happily as if saying "Surprise!" Three was in shock and began crying tears of joy. "Oh my little Eggdog! Thank you so much!" He scooped the pup up and embraced him while Eggdog licked the wet tears off his face. He set Eggdog down and looked at the clock. There was still enough time to make it. He quickly got changed and admired himself in the mirror. He even wore the bow, though he thought it was a little excessive. He gave his dog one last pat and rushed down the stairs while calling out "Wish me luck!"
Mario and Luigi were in fine red and green suits while Nerissa wore her dress and an elegant veil. They were just about to leave when...
"WAIT!" They all turned to see Three rushing down the stairs, also looking far more superior than them. Eggdog was watching from the top, eager to see his father figure go off on the night of his dreams. The boys start freaking out, begging Nerissa to not let him go. "Mother you can't!" "Mario doesn't want SMG3 to ruin his night!" Nerissa calms them down pointing out "After all we did make a bet." She slowly crept closer, creeping out Three. "And I never go back on my word." If only he knew that those Italians throwing a fit would make this evening a disaster.
"This tie. It gives it just the right touch. Don't you think so Mario?"He crossed his arms. "As a matter of fact Mario most certainly-" He stopped mid-sentence. "Wait a minute! That's Mario's tie! SMG3 you thief!" Mario marched right up to him and ripped the tie right off his neck. Luigi joined in as he pointed to something on his waist. "And look here this is my belt!" The brothers began furiously yanking every last bit of Three's suit till a torn apart mess was left.
"Boys. That's quite enough. Let's not upset ourselves. Now come along." They headed out the door and before Nerissa shut the door, she said "Good night." Three just stared at the torn suit, stunned. Once she shut the door, Three rushed off to the back garden. Eggdog didn't waste a second from watching the whole situation and bolted off after him. Three ran all the way through the garden till he collapsed onto a bench and sobbed his eyes out. Eggdog slowly crept towards Three and nuzzled him with his nose. "Not now Eggdog." Three mumbled. With nothing to do, the sad pup layed down beside him, quietly whimpering.
The sounds of soft sobbing continued till sparkles appeared into thin air. It was barely noticeable at first, but there soon became more and more. Eventually the little dog noticed and backed up. Three looked up, wiping his wet eyes to find a small creature sitting in front of him. "Don't cry grumpy one. Come on and dry those tears." A small fairy with blue hair and and a fluttering dress was sitting there with a sweet smile. Three sniffed while replying "It's just no use. Those idiots hate me."
"Nonsense. Hurry along now there isn't much time if we want to get you to the ball." Three perked up, confused. "The ball? But I'm not- wait a minute! Who are you?" The fairy giggled and said "Oh excuse me. Where are my manners? I am Tari, the fairy godmother." Three just stood there dumfounded. "This can't be real..."
"Oh but it is! Now where did I put my magic wand?" Okay now thing were really getting perplexing. As if more physics needed to be broken, Three watched in amazement as Tari made a gleaming white wand appear out of the blue. "Now let's see. What we should start with?" Three rolled his eyes with a "Really?" look. His suit obviously. Instead Tari quipped "Of course! A pumpkin" Three shook his head, bewildered. "A pumpkin!? What the hell are you talking about!?"
"You'll see once I say the magic words." She pointed the wand towards the pumpkin while commanding the words "Sala-gadoola-menchika-boo-la bibbidi-boobbidi-boo!" The pumpkin rolled over, using its leaves as hands and feet up to the man and fairy. Three rubbed his eyes as Tari continued to sing "Now Sala-gadolla means menchika-boolaroo but the thing-a-ma-bob that does the job is bibbidi-bobbidi-boo! The vines and leaves began curling into wheels as the pumpkin grew bigger. It grew, and grew, and grew till in its place stood a fancy carriage.
Three walked towards it, admiring the detail. "Wow I don't even know what to say." Tari tapped her chin in thought. "Now with an elegant coach like that we'll need... Mice!" Was this fairy crazy or something? Tari saw a few mice in the garden, looking for something to eat and magically made them float over. A little flick and the mice were transformed into noble steeds. "Now one more thing." Was it finally that new outfit that Three so obviously needed? Nope. Tari saw the curious Eggdog and admired him "Yes. He will do." Three was worried about his pup's safety as he tried to stop her.
"You're not going to hurt my son are you?" Tari gently floated over "Oh this is your dog. Of course not sweetie! We're just going to turn him human so he can be a coachman." Magic sparkled over Eggdog and in a flash of light, a cute human stood in his place. "Eggdog! Are you alright?" Three ran up to him, checking him for any signs of panic. "I'm alright dad!" Three withdrawn from his position. "Eggdog you spoke!"
"Incredible isn't it! Now you must hurry!" Three raised an eyebrow and cleared his throat while pointing at the torn suit. "Oh goodness gracious! We can't have you going to the ball in that." Three breathed a sigh of relief and shut his eyes as Tari swished her wand. When he opened them he fully expected a brand new suit, but it wasn't. Instead he was wearing a purple dress, gloves with the Roman numeral of three, a crown with a Skelton symbol on top, and uncomfortable glass slippers. "Why the hell am I wearing a dress!" Tari blinked a few times before apologizing. "Oops. So sorry about that. Here let me fix that." Before she did, the clock had signified the time. "You must go now! Time is of the essence! She directed him towards the carriage. Am I seriously supposed to wear a dress to the ball!"
"We've completely run out of time dear, but remember this. At the stroke of midnight my magic will fade and everything will go back to normal." Three scoffed "Of course it is." Tari waved goodbye as sparkles envisioned her. "Goodbye! Have a lovely evening!" She disappeared as Three got into the carriage. "Great. Now I'm going to the ball in a dress."
"Don't worry! I'll get us there licitly split!" Eggdog said as he took the reigns. Three's night was back on.
