"Welcome to Georgia! Would you look at that?!"  My dad says from the front seat, "Have you ever seen a peach before?"

When he asks questions in a car, its directed at all of us.

"I've never had a peach before, Dad!" J.J. screams as we pass the sign.

"Yes, you have!" Stephanie said, "Those ones in the plastic where you only drink the juice!"

"That's not a peach!"

"Yes, it is a peach!"

"No, its not!"

"Well, you're gonna see a lot more in Georgia, that's for sure!" Dad said, politely shutting down an argument.

"Yeah, and you're gonna smell a lot more in Georgia, too." Daniel mumbled loud enough that everyone could hear it.

"I don't want to smell" J.J. whined.

"Well, in that case, lean to the front so I can rip your nose out!" Dad chuckled.

When I wither away in this cramped car, at least I know that I'm in a car with a bunch of comedians.

Dominic finally opens his mouth and said the most unexpected thing possible:

"Why are there so many white people?"

. . .

The car was silent.

"Dominic" Mom said, "don't say anything that I would pop you in the mouth for."

Daniel started laughing like crazy.

Dad started talking over Daniel laughing, "You all are scared of all these people now, but I'll tell you the south has a lot of hospitality.

"What's hospotality, Dad?" J.J. asked.

"Being nice and friend like." Dad said, in his tone where he doesn't really know the answer.

"Like a hospital?"

"Like family."
