"James." a familiar voice calls as I feel slight shaking on my side of the bed.
"James! JAMES"
"What is it?" I say, half-asleep, in my pajamas. The first thing I see is Mom's signature look. That's not a good sign. Did she know about the magazine?
"It's time for school, so I want you dressed with your teeth brushed and your face washed, and down here in five minutes, or you're walking to school."
No use arguing with her, so I wiped my eyes and went to the bathroom. Dominic, Daniel, Naomi, and J.J. were already in there.
"Mornin', sleepyhead! I see you're still in your PJs." Daniel teased.
I grabbed my toothbrush. It was wet. Toothbrushes aren't supposed to be wet if you haven't used them.
"Who used my toothbrush?!"
"Not me!" said Daniel.
"Not me!" said J.J.
"What are you looking at me for? Stephanie probably used it!" said Naomi.
Dominic didn't say anything. He just brushed his teeth and left.
"STEPHANIE!!!" I shouted as I ran down the stairs.
Stephanie was in the kitchen, dressed, with her backpack on. She scowled as she saw me come down.
"Who used my toothbrush?"
"You're breath stank!" Stephanie said as she pushed me away from her.
I came closer, "Did you use my toothbrush?"
"No!"
"Dominic didn't do it, Daniel didn't do it, Naomi didn't do it, J.J. didn't do it, You must have done it!"
"Ok, I did it! What you gonna do about it?"
Stephanie said as she pulled herself back. She was right. If I strangled her, she'd tell Mom, and I'd be in trouble. I slowly made my retreat.
"By the way, you look stupid in your PJs! Put some clothes on!" she yelled.
I ended up washing my toothbrush five times before I used it, and I was the last one to get dressed and come downstairs.
