(Y/N) doesn't go home after he wakes up.
He doesn't try to go home to his mother and brother, where he feels unloved. He stays at Camp Half-Blood, where he has his friends.
Everything is great, until Thalia's Pine is poisoned. The camp is left defenseless.
A border patrol is organized, but nothing can stop the neverending onslaught of monsters. The border patrol can fend off monsters, but only enough so no one is hurt.
One day, after hearing a commotion, (Y/N) walks outside of the Hermes cabin. He walks towards the commotion to find Clarisse yelling at Percy and Annabeth about something.
Last summer, (Y/N) would've been ecstatic to see them, especially Annabeth. However, after they left him unconscious in the infirmary, without staying to make sure he's okay, he felt betrayed.
He nods in acknowledgment towards them.
His attention is caught by a much bigger problem. Well, maybe "problem" isn't accurate. The cyclops seems nice, if his big smile is any indicator.
(Y/N) approaches the group, and looks up at the cyclops. "Hello," He greets. "My name is (Y/N)."
The cyclops looks down at him, and smiles. "I'm Tyson!" He exclaims happily.
Suddenly, Annabeth walks over, wrapping an arm around (Y/N)'s shoulder. "Hey, (Y/N)! I see you've recovered well!"
(Y/N) had to bite back a snarky retort. Instead, he gives her a smile and nods.
After a little while of introductions and Clarisse scolding Percy for interfering, they all part ways to do their own thing. Annabeth follows (Y/N) back to the Hermes cabin, and the two of them sit down on his bed to chat.
"So, has anything interesting happened since we left?" Annabeth asks.
"Aside from the dying border and new activities director? Nope," (Y/N) answers.
The two of them continue chatting for a little while.
The conversation was going okay, until Annabeth decides to drop a bomb of information onto the poor, unsuspecting (Okay, maybe he had a few suspicions) boy.
"Hey, (Y/N)?" Annabeth says.
"Yes?"
"I think I might like your brother."
"Oh, okay-" "Wait, what?"
(Y/N)'s head snaps to look at his friend. If you asked him, he'd deny it, but he was sure anyone could hear the sound of his heart breaking at the news.
Now, the (H/C) haired boy was expecting it, but it still hurt.
Luckily for him, though, the dinner horn blows, so they have to part ways and get in line.
As (Y/N) walks to the Dining Hall, he takes every step from pure memory, his brain to busy thinking about Annabeth's words.
Dinner passed like normal, or at least he thinks it did. He paid no attention to it.
That night, he skipped the campfire, instead going straight to bed.
