"..."

Kaede didn't utter a single word, just smiling softly as if she wasn't about to be seperated from everyone else.

Y/n felt as if his knees could give up any moment, wiping his tears with his sleeves.

"Good..." Kaede muttered.

"Wh-What...? Good?" Kaito questioned in disbelief, clenching his fist. "What do you mean, good!? Is this how you wanted it to end?!" he shouted, a mix on anger and sadness in his voice.

"Not really, but... it could've turned out a lot worse. So this is fine, too." Kaede replied with a sad smile.

"I-It's not fine! This is super horrible! The worst ever!" Tenko disagreed, crying her heart out.

"Yeah... How did it come to this..?" Tsumugi sobbed.

"..." Kaede kept quiet, glancing at everyone, and mainly at Y/n.

"Kaede, what would possess you to do something like this?" Keebo asked, before getting interrupted by Y/n.

"That's right! You better have a good reason for this, you dumbass." Y/n shouted in between his sobs and sniffles, Kokichi standing beside him with no expression.

"Yeah... I won't be satisfied... Until I hear it straight from you..." Kaito said.

"Kaede, please..." Shuichi pleaded, holding back his tears.

"..." Kaede sighed,

"Okay... Please allow me a few more moments of your time, then." Kaede smiled once again.

"It's just like Shuichi said--I was after the mastermind this entire time. I wanted to kill the mastermind, and I thought doing that would end the killing game..." Kaede explained with a sad look.

"But why did you try to kill them? Maybe they could have been captured..." Shuichi said.

"If it hadn't been for the time limit, I probably would've done that..." The blonde sweatdropped with a chuckle.

"But the time limit meant that capturing the mastermind was less likely to work, y'know?" She added.

"I...was worried about that happening." Kaede's smile dropped, her hand moving to caress her arm.

"So you sought to kill the mastermind, instead?" Korekiyo questioned.

"I had made up my mind just before we set up the cameras in the library. I thought it was my last chance to save everyone... I couldn't let that chance pass me by. I had to save everyone, no matter what." Kaede said, looking anxious.
