"Look, maybe we should just take a break!" Rachel exasperated.

"Okay, okay, fine. You're right. Let's take a break. Let's cool off, okay? Let's get some frozen yoghurt or something," he started walking towards the door. But Rachel just stood there. He was getting too much for her. She just couldn't breathe anymore. The constant jealousy, the constant nagging. She needed to breathe and for that she needed Ross to go away.

"No," she replied. Ross had a confused look on his face. This was possibly not one of her best ideas but there was no way of turning back. She could already feel the regret burning in her but if they carried on like this she would literally have a breakdown and she couldn't afford that. Not when she had this amazing job, "A break from us."

Ross chuckled and turned around without a word. Then he was gone. No more nagging, no more whining. There was just peace. This was going to be good for them. They'll cool down and neither of them will say anything to each other that they will regret.

Rachel had a lot of love for Ross. With him she wasn't just another pretty girl. Of course it took him nine years to finally ask her out but that was just one of the reasons why she adored him, it was also one of the reasons why she needed a break from him. They were going too fast. He didn't feel it because he has been imagining this relationship for years but for her it has only been a year and already he was talking about marriage and babies. It's been only a few months since she started her new job, before that she could hardly afford rent let alone a baby. Ross has done the whole marriage and baby thing she hasn't. She needed a break from all of this.

She got herself changed and poured herself a some wine. The one that Ross brought for their anniversary. He was so caring. Very romantic and essentially marriage material. Everything she wanted in a guy was right in front of her. Could it be that she was making a mistake? Of course he could be a big idiot sometimes. Like right now. But his love for her usually crossed out the cons.

No, this was the right thing, she shook her head. He needed to know that he can't know her constant whereabouts 24/7 and there will be guys at her work that are handsome and might flirt with her. But that doesn't mean she was going to flirt back. He needed to trust her. She walked over to the bay window with her glass of wine. She had to admit she did miss him, a lot. Right then, the phone rang.

"Hello?" she asked into the phone little too eager.

Oh, hi. It's Mark," said the guy on the phone.

"Oh," she said a little too disappointed. Mark was a nice guy but he was also the reason why she and Ross were having trouble. He's the last person she wants to hear right now.

"What? Is it my breath?" he tried to joke but he just wasn't that funny.

"No. Sorry. I just thought you were somebody else. Hi," she said.

"Hi, well look, I was just going to leave a message," he paused a little, "Isn't tonight your big anniversary dinner?" he asked.

"Oh, well, I-, uhm."

"Rach? Are you okay?" he asked worried, which was really sweet of him.

"Yeah, I'm fine," her voice cracked. She wasn't, she really missed him. Her emotions were all over the place. How can someone love someone this much and still need a break from them. He was just making her crazy.

"You want to talk? I mean I can come over."

"No!" she said almost immediately. She didn't need the person that's screwing up their relationship to give relationship advice. It would be too weird, "Really no. Please. That's okay."

"All right. I'm coming over and I'm bringing Chinese food."

"Oh, yeah. I'm not hungry," she's trying to say anything at this point for him not to come over.
