"We've been driving for like centuries, when are we going to get there?"

Kira whined. I rolled my eyes as I stopped at the red light. "We've only been driving for like ten minutes." I glanced at her and she huffed.

I guess because I decided to get a cat without asking her, she thought I was replacing her with this cat as my new feline best friend. Though, I could never. "Trust me, you'll love him," I reassured. "Tch, yeah right," she mumbled.

We drove for another 20 minutes until we finally  arrived to the farm like animal shelter.

We got out of the car and Kira scrunched up her nose in disgust, "It smells like poop." I rolled my eyes yet again. "We're in the country," I reminded her. She simply groaned out loud as we made our way to the door.

Upon entering the building, the sounds of animals pounded my ear drums just like the first time I came here.

The lady who was normally at the front desk was no where to be found, so I walked a bit further into the establishment only to see her lugging a big bag of kibble.

"Would you like some help?" I asked, looking down the narrow hall. She jolted in surprise but quickly laughed it off with a smile. "Why that would be lovely, thank you." I grabbed the other end of the bag and we both carried it to wherever she needed to go.

After sitting it down in its respective spot she wiped her forehead with her sleeve and let out a small sigh. "That was my workout for the day," she chuckled.

"Now, you must be here to pick up Pringles?" She asked. I enthusiastically nodded my head.

"Perfect, right this way!" She waved me along and I followed behind her, grabbing Kira along the way. "Oh, how lovely, you brought a friend."

"Yes, this is my roommate. She is very excited to meet Pringles." She cut her eyes at me as she lagged behind. "I wouldn't say excited," she murmured. "You're right, I would say ecstatic," I gritted through my teeth.

We then entered a room where the black cat was sleeping in the sunlight along with some other cats.

"So, I gave Pringles a bit of catnip. He tends to be a little anxious when it comes to car rides." The woman walked around before grabbing a travel crate and stuffing it with Pringles's favorite toys and a blanket. I nodded my head as she handed me the items.

"This is the number of a friend of mine. She's a vet and'll walk you through the steps of pet parenthood, insurance and what nots." I smiled, taking the card and putting it in my pocket.

She picked up Pringles whose eyes slowly opened with a small yawn. She handed him to Kira before she could even object and Kira looked down at the cat, watching it fall back asleep in her arms. She scoffed a little before poking out her bottom lip.

The nice, tiny woman slowly guided us back to the front where I signed the papers and paid a small fee. And just like that, Pringles was finally mine!

"Thank you and please come again!" She waved.

We walked back to the car and I put all the stuff in the back seat before getting back in the driver's seat.

I watched as Kira snuggled with Pringles with a small pout. I knew she was gonna love him, but I didn't say anything because I knew she was gonna refute.

We drove back to the city and to the nearest pet store to get Pringles some food and other necessities before going back home. By then, the effects of the catnip started to wear off.

We let Pringles familiarize himself with the apartment instead of just plopping him wherever. At first he was a little timid and cautious of course, but seeing that we were perfectly comfortable with the space, helped ease him into the setting.

We then set up his tower and bed by the balcony door, and then placed his food bowls by the kitchen.

And as night fall, we were all cuddled up on the couch, watching whatever Kira put on. I looked down at the sleeping cat beside me and smiled as I stroked his silky fur,

"Welcome home Pringles."
