There are many different types of energy that is harmful to the environment most of you should know about fossil fuels such as coal and oil, which emit the likes of carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx).

However, some of the more unconventional ways energy is harmful to the environment that you might not think about consist of the following: nuclear Power, Biomass and Fracking. Beginning with nuclear Power the main source is that of uranium, in Ukraine back in 1986 one of the major nuclear power plants exploded that as you all should know as Chernobyl, this power plant had a uranium issues which once occurred massively effected the landscape of the area meaning no food was able to be grown with an increasing population on the arise many animals lost their habitats due to the seer amount to toxic radiation, next is biomass which simply links to deforestation which contributes carbon monoxide to the atmosphere and the destruction of major habitats, the final part I wish to get across is fracking now some of you may not know what fracking is all about but to simply summaries it for you it is that unconventional oil and gases being extracted now you may be asking how are they being unconventionally extracted and that is whenever an earthquake is to occur and whenever groundwater makes its way to the surface, both have been shown to pose a risk to any infrastructure if not built right as well as produce harmful toxins into the atmosphere such as carbon monoxide.

All in all, energy sources do cause some environmental impacts but by transiting to more cleaner and sustainable alternatives to renewable energy could lead to help mitigate any environmental issues. Before I move on a question; in your opinion what would be the best alternative energy source we could use and why?

Now for the Harry Potter side to it whenever we see a opening in the great hall we can also see the use of hundreds if not thousands of floating wax candles to light up the hall wax candles themselves do produce CO2 it not truly mentioned how long they burn for but with it being in a wizarding world it's not impossible to believe that some type of magic is used to keep them lit and used as a light source and if that is the case how much CO2 is produced yearly? As in Harry Potter the magical world doesn't use electricity so that begs the question what energy source, they use yes, it is most likely magic but where does that magic come from, I want your thoughts in the comment section. In addition, let's say Hogwarts gets is energy from the magical users what would the damage be to the users be that wizards, witches etc?
