028—Drowned II
On the way to Yunmeng, there is no doubt that there are a lot of obstacles to overcome. Possible Wen Sect ambush, undeads, securing food and water, and everything necessary for survival.
[First Name] looked up at the sky. It was dull and grey. The wind was blowing profusely but the forest was eerily silent. With the exception of the rustles of the leaves, no other sounds could be heard.
What a bad omen.
She then shifted her gaze to Jiang Cheng who followed right behind her. There were beads of sweat forming on his skin and there was a dark circle underneath his eyes. It was obvious that he was already exhausted for the day. So, as much as [First Name] wants to stay in a town at the very least, there was no other choice considering his condition. They have to camp in this eery forest for the night.
[First Name] closed her eyes and slowly breathed. At this point, she can't feel any pain from the wound on her back. But there was an uncomfortable numbness that replaced the pain. Both feels bad, honestly.
Despite all of that, [First Name] remained silent about her own wounds. Surely, Jiang Cheng already had enough things to worry about. Back at the small cave, she had already seen how worried he was. She just couldn't bring herself to burden him even more.
Although... Having someone to worry for her doesn't feel so bad, to be honest.

"Wanyin, you should drink first." [First Name] passed a bottle of water which Jiang Cheng mindlessly accepted. He had countless thoughts bothering his mind right now. What if Wei Wuxian is barely surviving in that cave, what if the Wen Sect will take revenge on the Jiang Sect for Wei Wuxian's impudence, what if Wen Chao came back and attacked those two trapped inside, he was anxious.
The fact that those doubts might actually be true leaves him restless. [First Name] was watching him with worry. "Wanyin." She called out again but he was still occupied with his thoughts.
Her heart ached seeing that she received no response. She could only sigh while opening her hand. Through the light that the campfire gave, she could see the faint scratches on her palm. Although she had used a handkerchief while wielding [Sword Name], the blade was simply too sharp that it even cut the abnormally tough fabric and cut even herself.
It stings but she can't do anything about it. She has even more wounds that are much more serious than this after all. Speak of the devil and...
She slowly shook her head and stood up from the log she was sitting on. Seeing that there was still no reaction from him, she quietly retreated a few steps and headed into the darkness of the forest.
Jiang Cheng wasn't that mindless, however. He had still noticed her absence. When he had taken a glance to look at her, Jiang Cheng found that she was gone from her spot. This immediately put a stop to his thoughts and panic replaced his worry. Although during the day, the two did not encounter anything dangerous, nighttime was a totally different case. Demons and zombies will appear as well as other threatening matters to be wary of.
He also left the campfire and went to look for [First Name] with a heavy heart. It's not as if he was not paying any attention to her. He was simply... Occupied with his thoughts.
