Karkat's into me. There's no other explanation for the way he's been acting.

I haven't come out to anyone besides John and my ex. I might as well tell Karkat next.

The first person I told was Jade Harley, because I was breaking up with her and I couldn't just not give her a reason. She didn't even argue with it because she saw it coming. She's the first person I've actually been intimate with, and she probably knew right around that time she went through my phone. I wasn't cheating on her or anything, just looking at some mad gay stuff. I tried to tell her it was ironic but she didn't buy it.

Then, weeks later, we had this conversation:

TG: hey so sorry i was so weird to you
TG: well it wasnt really my fault either i didnt even know i was into boys and like only boys
TG: well that and i really did like you i just didnt know in what way
TG: so yeah
TG: thanks for being so cool about it
TG: youre a good friend and i hope everything goes well with your major and everything
TG: oh shit i dont even know what your major is i guess i should have asked what are you studying
TG: im getting a business degree gonna open my own dispensary
TG: im still gonna sell my good stuff but my street deals will be a whole other brand
TG: oh yeah i have a shit ton of molly if you want any i know thats not really your thing but i dont know
TG: for all i know the break up could make you depressed enough to try drugs
TG: oh fuck was that rude
TG: im sorry
TG: thats the bottom line is im sorry
TG: and we havent really talked since breaking up and i miss talking to you jade

And after I finished spewing my nonsense I sat back and thought about what an idiot I am and how she didn't do anything to deserve me.

I really should have thought things through before I even agreed to dating her. I didn't even want to, I just never had a girlfriend or boyfriend before. I thought, hey why not try dating girls just to be sure? And Jade seemed like someone I could see myself romantically involved with, because we have good chemistry, just... Not any romantic chemistry.

She replied hours later, and when I see her message my heart dropped:

GG: dave do you have a crush on karkat? :0

I panicked. I couldn't risk saying yes.

TG: whoa what where did that come from
GG: idk its just something i thought about over the course of our relationship
GG: you stopped talking to karkat or karkat stopped talking to you and during that time we started dating and you were always finding ways to bring him up
TG: what
GG: you know like...
GG: "karkat would have liked this movie" "this reminds me of something funny karkat said" shit like that!!
TG: im sorry
TG: im sorry for that i wasnt trying to make you feel jealous or anything
GG: your over apologizing is honestly starting to get really annoying :(( !!
TG: im sorry
TG: whoops
GG: look i think we can still be friends i just really want what is best for you and you need to figure out your feelings for him !!!
GG: and im getting a philosophical degree i GUESS i dont really care about sburb university im just here because we have to be
TG: whoa wait you dont care about college
TG: but you told me you always wanted to go to college
GG: not like this dave
TG: like
TG: like what exactly
GG: you know exactly what im talking about
GG: theyre erasing our memories and holding us hostage to this strange earth like place :(
GG: i really hate it dave :(
TG: i know
TG: me too

I thought about that conversation a lot when I was taking Karkat home, and ending up speeding the whole way. I don't know if it was to impress him or not.
