I silently hope whoever this guy is avoids this area like the plague.
But who would have thought that luck is not on my side today? He keeps eye contact with me as he walks closer to Poppy and I's table.
I am overcome with a coconut scent before he stands before me.
If I thought Poppy was tall, this guy is a tree.
My neck craned up to maintain his gaze made me freeze.
"You are quite the runner, aren't you, kitten?" He growls lowly, leaning into me.
Now that we are closer, I can see his green eyes zeroing on me above his eyes are curly I want to run my fingers through.
Without saying anything, I know this is the same guy I bumped into.
The same guy that was in my class earlier.
His voice did the rest of him justice; I mean, he could be talking about that famous math theorem, and I would want to listen tentatively just to hear this deep voice.
With the arousal and little curiosity he sparked in me, I peek over, noticing Poppy staring knowingly, as is the rest of the cafeteria.
I didn't expect it, but he grabs my chin in his rough hands and turns me to face him once again.
I jolt at his warm palm on my face and my body welcomes his warmth.
His face comes into view, and his intense gaze made me swallow nervously; he is wearing a strong expression, and my eyes unconsciously scan every feature: his green eyes focused on me, his straight nose, and below his lips, a small snare.
Unashamed whispers erupted from every which way, bringing me back.
Not only am I checking him out shamelessly, but I'm also doing it in front of half the school.
I quickly avert my gaze and stand up.
Pulling away, I grumble an, "Excuse me", and speed out of the quiet cafeteria, dumping my tray.
So much for the first day.
I didn't mean to ditch Poppy, but I couldn't bear being so close to a guy I don't even know with so many people looking.
I still haven't had a proper tour of the school, so as I escape the cafeteria, I pass a few corridors and classrooms, deciding to duck into a random one.
Pulling the door open, I rush in and toss my bag onto the nearest desk.
Closing my eyes and taking deep breaths, I try to calm my breathing down.
It seems every time I am near him, I am left breathless.
"Why?" I throw my head back in frustration, but am interrupted when I hear the door open.
Turning around, there he is.
Brooding, leaning against the shut door in the dimly lit classroom.
I reach for my bag and head to leave.
I have nothing to say to him.
But before I can leave, his hand slams against the door, blocking my exit.
"I don't think so," he says, his voice low and gravelly.
My heart races as I take in his muscular frame looming over me. I try to steady myself, reminding myself that I can handle this.
I can handle him.
"What do you want?" I ask, trying to keep my voice steady.
"Hmm...you," he says, his eyes piercing into mine, a ghost of a smirk gracing his lips.
