"I thought that stars in the sky were befitting of their place near the moon, but who knew they'd look so lovely in your orbs instead?"
Chapter 1 - "Compartment of blooming friendship"
The King's cross station never seemed that exciting to her before this morning. But today was different. The eleven-year-old Odele Burton had finally been accepted in the school that her beloved father had gotten his schooling from. And so, the little girl could hardly contain herself as she entered the bustling station, her precious ticket secure in her mother's hand.
"Hold on tight sweetie..." Her mother softly whispered as she guided her bubbly daughter through the busy station.
"Mum, how much longer do I have to pull this?" Her brother groaned as he dragged his sister's trolley behind their father, begrudgingly.
The little girl zoned out of the mundane conversations of people around her and took in the station with her innocent green eyes. Her forest green orbs, twinkled with her emotions as she gazed upon the bustling station. Some people were tearfully saying their goodbyes, trying to hold onto their loved ones for a little longer. Some were welcoming their people back, smiling brightly as they engaged in chatter of reminiscence. Some dragged their feet to the train, with their duties of work pushing them. But nonetheless, she found it all mesmerising, that there could be so many human emotions that one could not phrase into words and the simplicity of those unspoken yet true feelings seemed intriguing to the little girl. And so when she stood in front of the imposing beam between platform number nine and ten, she gripped her father's hand tighter with some fear and much excitement.
With a reassuring squeeze to her hand, her father dashed with her straight into the beam. The little girl who shut her eyes expecting an impact, opened them to a busy platform 9 and ¾ quarters.
The little girl could only let her eyes wander around again, as took in the sights of her first step to her dream coming true. Her hand felt clammy in her father's grip but this time she didn't pull away or complain, she was just too busy admiring the red and black train that read - 'Hogwarts Express, 5972'
Her brother who pushed in her trolley with her mother let out a loud gasp, "Holy-" which was quickly shut by the glare that their mother gave him for his indecency. Odele and father simply snickered at the sight of the other two.
The tight family was experiencing a new found feeling. Although they had travelled before, yes, but this was different. The youngest of the family was going away for the first time, all alone to an entirely different place.
Nicholas Burton, was teary like his wife upon seeing his daughter board the train. And her brother, who seemed to be annoyed at her mere presence couldn't hide the worry that shone in his eyes upon looking at his little sister, headed to a place far away on her own.
The sweet little girl smiled upon her family and said reassuringly to them all, "Wait for my letters, and don't make me wait for your replies either, okay?" her soft voice echoed in their ears despite the chaos around them three. Oh how they would miss their little devil knocking over the things in the room as she practised some spells or as she simply rushed to any one of them to tell them her ramblings.
Her father smiled back, "Of course, sweetie." and they bid her goodbye as she disappeared in the boogie of the train, looking for a seat.
Odele walked further inside the boogie of the train to find an empty spot, until she found one in a rather empty compartment otherwise with a round-faced boy of blonde hair who was curled up against the window as if distressed or sad.
Odele gently knocked on the compartment, asking shyly and politely, "Excuse me, is this full or would mind if I share?"
The round-faced boy looked at her for a minute before giving her a shy nod of approval.
The girl smiled as she entered the compartment and took a seat opposite to him, "Thank you so much, I am Odele, Odele Burton, first year. And you?"
The boy, seemingly relaxed by her calm smile, gave her a small smile back and replied, "I am Neville Longbottom, first year too."
She nodded, extending her hand for him to which he gladly shook, "Nice to meet you, Neville."
The two sat in comfortable silence until a head of bushy brown hair asked the same as Odele had previously. Neville and Odele shared a glance with smiles before nodding and allowing her in.
The girl beamed and sat beside Odele, introducing herself, "I am Hermione Granger and you two are?"
Odele smiled at her politely, "I am Odele Burton, and he's Neville Longbottom."
As the conversation went on about random books and spells, Odele felt a warm feeling of friendship nuzzle her, and she could tell that the three would be good friends even if the houses were to separate them, or not.
