"I feel like I have deliberately lost my own colours... while trying to fit in between the white and the black."

Chapter 2 - "A toad, and a boy with shiny blonde hair."

The cool tanned leather of the seats was a funny contrast to the warmth of the conversations of the three hearts. The mundane conversation was no longer mundane for the little girl as she chatted away with Hermione, about everything from basic spells to advanced charms.

Hermione jumped from topic to topic, eager and joyed to have found friends who share her interests. But Odele wasn't familiar with muggle literature, sure she had heard her brother whine about the long Shakespearean texts, but she hadn't tried to read them herself. Though Neville on the other hand seemed to listen to 'Mione keenly and even pitch in his favourites here and there.

Amidst the conversational train of the three that got sidetracked for the green eyed girl, her eyes drifted to the windows of the compartment. Taking a moment of escape to admire what she truly loves, nature. The dark and lush green forest zooming away as the train moved, drew in a realisation for her. Her small bubble that she had with her family when she was young, would also zoom away like this once she'd settled herself in the school and that made her exhilarated and a bit sad too.

Her own train of thoughts was interrupted when a sweet voice called out, "Anything from the trolley, dears?"

Odele smiled politely at the elderly lady and said, "We'll have three chocolate frogs, madam."

The green eyed girl grinned at her new friends as she handed each the treat. Her mother, Lian Burton has always said, 'Share your food, to show your care.' And she couldn't find any words truer than her mother's because she has seen her father always making sure to leave behind the best part of the ice-cream for her mother. Would always work when they had minor disagreements.

Neville and Hermione could only smile back at her and take the chocolate frogs she'd bought, because her grin was too innocent and they didn't have the heart to deny her.

Neville graciously took the sweet and opened it. But his eyes focused on the chocolate frog for a long time. A faint frown of confusion then passed his eyes before it deepened and he exclaimed, "Tervor!"

Hermione and Odele, who were reciting to each other the information they knew about the person they got in their cards, looked at Neville and repeated, "Trevor...?"

Neville got up on his feet, frantically looking around their compartment. Trying to reach in between the slits of the seats, under them, in his bag and everywhere else, "Trevor, my toad, I think I lost him!"

Hermione immediately got up to her feet, looking for Trevor with him, "When was the last time you saw him, Neville?" Her voice, matching his worry though less in volume and more rational edge to it.

Neville mumbled panicky, "I don't know... At home, maybe?" as small tears of fear started pooling in his warm brown eyes.

Looking at his teary eyes Odele couldn't help but feel upset and suggested, "Let's look for him in the train, Mione. Meanwhile you look in your belongings, Neville."  Trying to get him to calm down with her gentle and steady voice.

Hermione and Odele shared a quick look before leaving the compartment to look for Trevor, "You go left and I will go right, meet me here before we depart, Odele."

Odele gave her a small nod of understanding before going to the left of the compartment and checking in on every compartment, politely apologising for the disturbance as well as asking in for Trevor.

Many compartments passed, each having a fresh reaction to the little girl asking about the toad, but the common line was, "Sorry, we don't know." She was even fascinated as she saw a set of redhead twins, they looked quite similar and Odele couldn't help but look at them for longer with curiosity of having seen twins for the first time in her life.

She then reached the last compartment, and with dimmed but a flicker of hope she knocked on the door. Waiting patiently for permission before going in. As the door slid open, she smiled politely on reflex and replayed her dialogue, "Hi, sorry for disturbing, but have you seen a-" Her voice faltered as her eyes landed on a boy with platinum blonde hair, and grey eyes who looked as if God had taken his very precious time to make him especially. He looked pretty to her, very pretty.

But she tried to continue, fumbling a bit as her refused to stray from the statue like pretty boy who looked disinterested in anything apart from himself, "-Toad... A boy named Neville has lost one..."

Feeling her gaze on him, the boy slowly turned his head to look at her. And just like she'd think, he had a calm tone to his voice, "Sorry, no."

Smiling politely, she said, "It's okay and I am sorry for disturbing you." With her heart beating faster than before she shut the door of the compartment and went back to her own.

The shiny locks and the clear grey eyes seemed to have made a special room for themselves in the girl's heart as she absentmindedly sat back on her seat, mumbling to Neville, "I am sorry Neville, no one seemed to have seen anything."

Neville being the kind child he is, thanked her nonetheless and slumped his shoulders.

Odele looked outside the window once again, her heart making its thumping known to her with its force, she dazedly remarks the train coming closer to its destination, forgetting about Mione for moments until the departure. But the other girl seemed to have had an adventure of her own.
