When the doctor didn't spoke for quite a while, Soonyoung's confidence faltered between his gaze. After a while the doctor asked a question again, "There are burn marks on patient's body, do you happen to know how they were formed?"
"Marks?" Soonyoung's brows frowned in confusion but the moment the doctor raised his brows, taken aback from Soonyoung's surprised face, the younger had to pretend that it wasn't his first time hearing it.
Ofcourse he can't make mistake. Soonyoung knew if by any chance the doctor got to know the patient he was treating was related to suicide case, and all those marks were a sign of self harm as he had concluded till now, he will immediately call cops and Soonyoung will be doomed.
He can't afford either himself or Jihoon in hands of cops. But the way the doctor was staring at him, the only option that suited him at the moment was making an innocent face of oblivion so the doctor would not think it was some sign of domestic violence as the latter was thinking probably.
"You are his husband right?" The doctor asked and Soonyoung felt his heart sinking, "You should know about those things."
"I should." Soonyoung accepted immediately, "But I have already told you it's been quite a lot time since I went home. And my husband never told me anything about any burn marks." Soonyoung pretended to think, "My husband is a pretty bad cook, I think he once have mentioned getting burnt while cooking, these might be that marks."
When the doctor raised his brows at him again, Soonyoung knew where this was going, "Really? Doesn't seem like that to me."
"What do you mean by saying that doctor?" Soonyoung asked, voice breaking down like a man who really had his husband in hospital. But the doctor didn't looked like he had some major experience in this field because Soonyoung's breakdown had caught him off guard.
But he still tried to be firm on his ground, "What i am asking here is if you are sure they are formed by careless cooking and not by anything else?"
Soonyoung suddenly had his eyes widened, feeling like he was being offended and the Next second, he replied in his voice full of guilt, pretending to be a husband who had failed to take care of his spouse, "I know I should have taken better care of him."
He began crying, leaning on Minghao's shoulders and hiding his face as the younger began patting his head, consoling him even, "Don't worry Soonyoung. When Jihoon gets up, apologise earnestly to him. He loves you, you know that right?"
Soonyoung's overdramatic ass shook his head, wiping off his tears as he said, "I failed as a husband Minghao. In between all those meetings, i forgot I had a husband waiting for me at home. Look how it turned out, how bad I am that i couldn't even take care of him." He grabbed Minghao again, wailing, "I am such a sick husband! I don't even know when he got those marks and that he wasn't eating properly, and look, now he is like this! It's my fault, it's all my fault!"
Soonyoung cried even harder, wrapping his arms around Minghao and almost hugging him like a toddler. Minghao though wanted to kick his ass out, since the doctor was looking at both of them, he decided to rub his back to console his friend once again.
When the doctor was about to speak, eyes soften a little with guilt, Seungkwan spoke up in between, his voice raging in anger, "This is not done sir! Are you thinking he does domestic violence on his husband?! For real?!"
At the name of domestic violence, Soonyoung cried even harder, making the doctor go in panick mode. Seungkwan on the other hand added fuel to the fire from the side, "Do we look like that kind of people to you?! Just because my friend isn't saying anything does not mean he doesn't love his husband! Do you even know how hard their life is? How much they had to go through just to get married? They love eachother to death and you are here making my friend feel like he failed as a husband!"
