Chapter 22

Okay this is a chapter! I just have a couple things to say first. So this story is obviously not on hold anymore! I'm still working on other stories too! And if you have any ideas for this story, please message me! Okay enjoy!

Riley POV
I kept glancing at the clock, feeling like time had stopped or something. Any minute now that clock would just freeze and I could fix everything before it turned into a mess. Maya sat on the couch twiddling her thumbs. I tapped my fingers against the counter while the coffee boiled. I caught Maya's eye for a second before looking away.
"Riley I-"
I put up my hand.
"Maya stop we need to talk about this calmly."
I grabbed two mugs and poured the coffee in them. Maya graciously took one while I plopped next to her.
"How did this happen?!"
Maya let out a small giggle. She only giggles when she's nervous.
"Maya what is it?!"
She sighed.
"Okay we were in Josh's apartment just hanging out. Then the tv show say yes to the dress came on and we got really into it. One thing led to another and Josh and I were talking about marriage!...are you mad?"
I put my head in my hands and rubbed my temples. Maya always makes huge decisions without even thinking! Sometimes it feels like I'm her conscious.
"Okay Maya if you wanna get married to a guy you've been dating for what like 5 months?! Then that's cool. Just don't expect me to clean up this mess for you."
I grabbed my mug and went to get more coffee. Maya ran after me.
"Wh-what mess?! What are you talking about?! Riley I know what I'm doing! You're just jealous of me!"
I nearly lost the grip on my mug, but then I started to laugh.
"Oh sweetheart if that's what you think then you've got it all wrong. I just know that this is gonna blow up in your face. You are 19 years old! 19! You're young and dumb and do stupid things when it comes to love."
A silence filled the room for a moment. All you could hear was the stillness of the night. Maya slammed her hands on the counter and headed towards the door.
"What would you know about love Riley?! All you know how to do is get pregnant and guilt people into helping you."
Maya slammed the door and it felt like the entire house shook. I leaned against the counter. Then it all just came spilling out. I started to slide to the floor. Maya was right, I don't know anything about love. I've messed up my life more than she has. I curled up into a ball and let the tears fall. At first just a few, but gradually more and more came. She's just trying to get a fresh start and I'm holding her back. I'm holding everyone back. I looked around the pale white room, a single light came from the table lamp. This was my life now. My sick, twisted up life. The walls suddenly began closing in on me, like I couldn't breathe. I grabbed my purse and ran out the door. I just- I just need to get away from here.
*the next morning*
Lucas POV
I woke up in an empty bed. Where's Riley? I threw on a shirt and pants and went to the triplets room. She wasn't in there either.
"Riley?!"
I yelled through the apartment, but no answer. Then I noticed her purse was gone, I ran over to the window.
"No she couldn't have she ju-"
I stopped. Her car was gone too. The realization hit me. Riley walked out on the kids and I.

So that's the chapter! Where's Riley?! And I'm sorry if this chapter sucks, but it's 11:00 at night and this is the first time in like 3 1/2 weeks that I can sleep in tomorrow! So I'm just really tired. In a few chapters I'm skipping ahead...like 5ish years!
