Chapter 25

So btw this is a REALLY long chapter in my opinion, so be prepared. Also I left out some pretty important stuff in this chapter (Maya calling off the wedding, Riley and Lucas talk about her leaving.) I promise that will be in the next chapter!

Riley POV
"You need to leave now."
I hissed at Sam.
He let out a small chuckle.
"What? You're not excited to see me? The father of your children?!"
"As far as I'm concerned Lucas Friar is the father of my children. You're just a guy who left them."
I could tell that remark hit Sam right where it hurt.
"Hey sweetheart I don't want trouble. Come on, you didn't miss me one little bit?"
I shook my head.
"Sam you may have meant something to me in the past, but I will never forgive you. Ever. Now get out of my way."
He stepped in front of me, blocking the door.
"Riley, you're 5 hours from home and you look like a mess. It doesn't take a genius to know what's going on."
"It doesn't?"
"Well it obvious! You came looking for your long lost boyfriend!"
I rolled my eyes.
"Wow Sam nothing gets past you! But you couldn't possibly know what I'm going through."
Sam leaned in a little, I use to feel sparks around him. Now I just feel pain.
"Well whatever's going on just remember this. The triplets have a dead beat dad. Don't let them have a dead beat mom too."
He was right.
"Thanks Sam. Well this has been somewhat unbearable so I think I'll just leave."
Sam softly grabbed my hand.
"Wait uh look I'm leaving for college in Florida soon and this might be my only chance I'll ever get. Can I meet my kids?"
Lucas POV
I paced around the apartment, who wants to meets the kids?!
(A/N: This is after the phone call in the last chapter)
Max started crying and I picked him up rocking him back and forth. The door opened, instead of Riley it was just Maya.
"Sup Mr.Mom."
I laughed.
"That's my new nickname?"
Maya shrugged.
"Maybe. But I came by to see if you needed help. Since you know...Riley."
I handed her a screaming Max.
"Don't worry she's coming home...and I got the job!"
"Oh my gosh Lucas that's great!"
Maya jumped up and hugged me. Her little arms wrapped around my muscular body. It felt kinda nice.
"Well this is awkward."
Maya quickly let go and we turned around.
"Uh hi Riley....Sam."
He awkwardly waved. Riley ran up and hugged me, I kept my arms down.
"So why is he here exactly?"
Riley smiled.
"Sammy just wanted to meet his kids."
Sammy?! Did Riley just call him Samny?! I glared at Riley, she shot a confused look back. Sam walked over to Maya who was still holding Max.
"This one of them?"
I slowly nodded.
"Sam meet your youngest kid Max."
Sam smiled and hugged Max. He did this with Brent and Cassie as well.
"K you've met them, now leave."
I snapped.
He put up his hands in surrender.
"All right Friar no need to get all protective. I'm leaving, see ya guys around."
I hope I never see that ugly face again.
Riley POV
"I'll walk you out."
I followed Sam out into the hallway.
"Well thanks for letting me meet Brent, Cassie and Max."
I nodded slowly.
"Sure. Thanks for coming."
I grabbed the doorknob when Sam took my hand in his.
"Riley, I know we've only been together for a few hours, but I've missed you. I've missed us. I know I was such a jerk in high school, but I'm ready to change. After seeing those kids and knowing everything you've done for them, I'm ready to do that too. Please let me."
I didn't know what to say.
"Sam, after everything you've put me through I- I just can't."
"Maybe this will change your mind."
He started to lean, our lips softly touched. A few months ago I would've melted into a puddle right then and there. Now I push him away from me.
"Sam what are you doing?! You broke up with me!"
He smirked.
"Come on Riles, I know you miss me."
I let go of his hand.
"You're my past. I don't need my past interfering with my future. I think you should go. Goodbye Sam."
I walked back into the apartment and slowly shut the door. I lightly leaned against the wall and dried my eyes.
"Riley stop, you've already wasted too many tears on him."
I whispered to myself.

Okay! So that was a pretty long chapter! Sorry I meant to update like 2 days ago, but I got lazy and didn't finish the chapter. Now I wish I could say I'll be updating all this weekend because normally I would. But for the 4th of July I have to go to a picnic instead of spending the day at home with my entire family. So that would be a no then. I haven't even started the next chapter yet, or brainstormed for it😂😂 You'll probably be waiting at least 4 days for the next one.
