' ' Tinykit! Kinkhearts tail isn't a mouse! ' ' Fallenbranch scolded Tinykit, giving her mate an apologetic look.Tinykits tail drooped as she walked back to her mother.
Just as she was about to get to Fallenbracnhes side, Swiftkit came out of nowhere and knocked her over, pinning her to the ground. ' ' Ha! Got you! ' ' Swiftkit taunted.
Tinykit pushed Swiftkit off batting him on the nose, claws sheathed.
Fallenbranch smiled at the happy kits playing.
It had been three moons since Fallenbranch gave birth, and Sootkit, Tinykit, Batkit and Swiftkit couldn't stop mewling about when their apprentice ceremony would be.
Kinkheart padded over to her brushing up against her pelt, purring.
' ' Our kits our wonderful. ' ' Kinkheart said licking Fallenbracnhes ear.
Kinkheart was a lean and intelligent warrior, most other cats came to him for hunting tactics or tips.
Tumblestar usually made him head of hunting patrols.
His brown-red coat made it perfect for blending in to Bayclans woods, and Fallenbranch was happy that they chose each other.
' ' Kinkheart can we pleeeeaaase go hunting now? '' Skipperpaw padded over and complained at Kinkheart.
' ' Okay fine we can go hunting now. Go get Russetleg and Pheasentpaw and see if they would like to
hunt with us. ' ' Kinkheart told his apprentice waving goodbye with his tail and leaving.Fallenbranch looked after him longingly.
' ' Mum! Look what I found! ' ' Tinykit squeaked excitedly dropping a pink and purple flower at her mother's paws.
Fallenbranch examined it. It was a Dahlia flower.
' ' It's wonderful darling. Why don't you give it to Shatteredfoot? ' ' Fallenbracnh said.
Tinykit nodded eagerly, picked up the flower then sprinted to the medicine den.
~Timeskip~
Dawn sunlight woke Swiftkit.
He yawned stretching then getting up out if his nest.
He padded out of the nursery, which smelled like milk, even though Fallenbranch hadn't been feeding them milk for three moons.
Sootkit was convinced he was stronger than all the other kits and apprentices.
Swiftkit thought otherwise.
He padded over to the fresh-kill pile examining it.
There was a squirrel a mouse and two voles.
It wasn't to good, especially for New Leaf.
The hunting patrol should be back soon with plenty of prey.
Hopefully a sparrow.
It was Swiftkit favourite prey.
Just as he was longing looking at the fresh-kill pile imagining a juicy sparrow there ready for him, the dawns hunting patrol pushed through the tunnel of the entrance to the camp.
And from Kinkhearts jaws was a fat, juicy sparrow.
Swiftkit bounded over mewling at his father, Kinkheart, to let him have the sparrow.
' ' How about you bring it to the elders and see if they want it first. ' ' Kinkheart convinced Swiftkit.
Swiftkit nodded a glint of sadness in his eyes.
But without question he took the sparrow heading over the elders den.
The welders den was a large redwood trunk at the left corner of the camp.
Small mushrooms grew on the side of the trunk and moss spouted at the edge of its roots.
Swiftkit pushed through the entrance quietly, careful not to wake the possible sleeping cats.
' ' Swiftkit! A sparrow I see ' ' Lightstripe mewed.
Swiftkit nodded dropping the sparrow then speaking. ' ' would you like it? ' ' he asked.
' ' It's alright darling we'll go get our own prey. ' ' Lightstripe tipped her head to one side smiling.
Swiftkits eyes lit up before he nodded a thank you.
Finally the sparrow was all his.
As soon as he was outside the elders den he dug into the prey eagerly, savouring every bite.
He could tell New Leaf was doing well to the forest, just by tasting the bird.
' ' Hey Swiftkit. ' ' Batkit said as he walked up and crouched beside his brother.
Swiftkit waved his tail over at Batkit before taking antihero bite if his sparrow.
Batkit just watched him.
Swiftkit soon became full, he then offered it to Batkit nodding politely.
Swiftkit knew he shouldn't have favourites but Batkit was his favourite sibling. No doubt.
And Swiftkit was Batkit favourite.
They loved each other deeply.
Sometimes that's all you need.
Just your brother.
