Melody still couldn't believe what Kol had said to her. He loved her. Did he? She kept overthinking and second-guessing herself. It was a feeling she had never felt before. He remembered everything about her, her favorite colour, chocolate, and movies. And the thing she liked most was how he made her laugh over the silliest things and serious ones too. There was peace with Kol, when she was in his arms she felt safe.

At the time she was surprised, she didn't expect him to say anything about love. She thought it was too soon. She thought she was too young to even understand it. But then she thought some more, she thought about how she was thankful for having him in her life, she loved that he would teach her things she'd never thought she'd enjoy, she loved how he made her laugh, smile, supported her dreams in pursuing fashion. There was no awkwardness. She loved his eyes because they always sparkled with mischief and warmth. She finally started to like herself, her appearance, and her hobbies, and she didn't feel insecure anymore. She felt that he was her confidant, best friend, and partner in crime. She realized she didn't love him at first sight, she started to love him over time, the more they spoke, the more time they spent together and she realized she loved Kol.

Valentine's Day was approaching and Melody hadn't a clue how to celebrate it. She knew she needed to get him a gift. She had a few ideas of what to get, she knew that anything that was related to his favorite movie, he would love it, and a card. Melody loved cards, receiving a card is more than just receiving a piece of paper it's receiving a gesture of love, thoughtfulness, and connection from someone who cares. It's unique, it holds a message that you couldn't find anywhere else. It's something special. She knew exactly what to write, a few jokes and a sentence or two of how she loved him.

One night when Kol was invited to sleepover again they had planned it. Once he arrived and settled in, Melody was sitting down as Kol was standing and still holding his backpack.

"What are you doing? I need cuddles" She fussed, frowning at him with puppy eyes.

"No patience" He joked. And then he pulled out a red hoodie from his bag. "This is-"

"Is that yours?" She interrupted.

"Can you wait a second" He said, and they giggled.

It was a red hoodie with the date that Kol had asked Melody to be his girlfriend, it was their date. Their day in white stitching. Melody was surprised, she hadn't received a gift like this before. Kol passed the hoodie to Melody and she put it on, then she noticed on the sleeve it had Kol's initials and a heart. She started smiling.

"Oh no wait that's for my other misses, take it off," He said, smirking.

"Too late! Get them something else" She retorted.

"You're my only cougar don't worry" He joked.

"That's right" She smiled.

Then Kol took out a blue hoodie matching hers except for the blue sleeve with her initials.

"You got us matching hoodies?"

He nodded.

"I love you"

"I love you too Chicken"

He sat down next to her and they shared a small kiss. Kol wanted to take Melody to a restaurant a few days before Valentine's Day because the actual day fell on a work day, and they both wanted to celebrate it together which she was excited about. Although, they were both picky eaters they chose to go to Spaghetti House. Kol would argue that Melody was more picky than he was. While she was listening to Kol talk about his day at work, she laid her head on his chest, and slowly her eyes closed and she fell asleep.

A few days before Valentines Day

Melody had planned her outfit, a red dress, boots, and tights. The weather was still freezing. She wasn't fond of her curls, she always straightened her hair. They had planned to meet at Melody's at six p.m. When she had checked the time on her phone, it had started ringing. It was Kol. She answered it.

"Hello"

"Whats happening!" He exclaimed.

"You tell me" She giggled.

"I'm on the way" He stated.

"Okay I'll see you soon Buster"

"See you Chicken!"

She finally found a nickname for him. Buster. Although he already had a nickname from his friends that he loved she felt that she needed one for him. And this one was it, from his favourite movie, and the moment she said it he was ecstatic.

She had gotten her bag and jacket on and ten minutes later he was downstairs. She ran out the door, locking it, and down the stairs. They met at the door and gave each other a kiss. They started walking to the restaurant. As they did, Melody was speaking on her project for her fashion course which sounded like nonsense to Kol.

"I had to trend forecast for next summer's collection," She said.

He nodded, she was grateful he listened and probably tried understanding.

And that was one of the last times that Melody could remember seeing Kol happy.
