Thump, thump, thump; the sound of my shoe hitting the ground haunted me. The hallway had never been this quiet. Tonight the only other sound was the sound of foot steps. They belonged to my sister Kayla. She was the only comfort I had in the dark cavernous hallway. I looked over at her, as to give her comfort. I looked into her deep blue eyes that she inherited from our mom. She looks exactly like her; what with her soft golden brown waves and her tan skin. She was a really pretty 12 year old . Then you got me who isn't gorgeous but I'm not ugly. I have long boring black hair and green eyes that I guess I got from my dad because they certainly did not belong to my mother. Despite Kayla's beauty she looked awful. She was so white she looked transparent.
We were on our way to Madam's office. You never wanted to be summoned down to Madams office, it usually meant you were going to be sold, often times out of the country to Africa or some place like that. When we finally reached Madam's office the guard out side the door glared at us with her cold eyes.
"What are you staring at, just go in you little pains,"
We obeyed. You always obey or else. We walked into Madam's office. Everything was pink and fluffy and cute. I half expected for her to hit a switch and it all to turn into a torture room. Yet some how the pink tea cups seems scarier. Madam was sitting behind a big mahogany desk. The walls were lined with antiques all relating to bunnies in some way. The carpet was pink, then again so was everything else. Even Madam wore a pink pantsuit, like she always did.
" Girls, welcome. I presume you know why you are here," she didn't wait for an answer, " your sister um, Lucy..."
"L-L-Lily." Kayla managed to stutter. That word alone make her lean on me for support.
" Fine 'Lily' was not at role call this evening. She has not been seen since lunch according to her bunk. I don't suppose you girls have an idea where she is."
She took a sip of her tea. The smile on her face reminded me of a character I had herd of one time, I think his name was Joker. Anyway it made me sick.
"Um no Madam, we saw her at lunch then went right to our chores." I felt like I wanted to faint. My knees started to shake.
"Oh well that's to bad because we the guard team already came back from searching, so she is gone, unless one of you is want to tell me where she is going.
I knew exactly where she was going. I had made the whole plan. We would leave in the middle of the lunch rush. Behind Lily's bed there was a gapping hole in the wall that we had made. It lead to the sewer system, which leads out. Out being the Giant wilderness that surrounds the plantation. The plan was to head to Boson, because that is where our mom was from. The plan was to find our dad, whom we had never met. It wasn't a perfect plan; That's why we hadn't left yet. Lily went on without us. Lily was only nine. She was just a perfect angel, she was my little Lily pad; And she was gone.
