Chapter 1Start of Something New
"I've got coffee and donuts that I can't eat and drink all by myself," Violet called out from the other side of the door.
A groan was all Violet received.
"Heart!" Violet yelled this time.
Heart stuck her head under the pillow. "It's six in the morning!" She yelled, her voice slightly muffled under her pillow but loud enough for Violet to hear.
Laughter erupted from the other side of Heart's bedroom door. "Oh, honey...It's seven o'clock."
Heart immediately arose from her bed, her messy long and light brown hair tangled around her face. She checked her phone not so long ago; it was six o'clock. She didn't hesitate and quickly scrambled off the bed to search for her professional clothing.
"You didn't think to tell me that first?!" Heart yelled to Violet.
"Hey, number one: you locked the door on me, so that kind of hurt my feelings. Number two: I thought you would have assumed that we were late as I repeatedly yelled for you to wake up!"
Heart let out a groan again. "At least I wasn't attacked like last time."
Violet laughed. "Hey, it worked. Jumping on you was the only way to get your skinny ass out of bed. Now I know I can just lie to you about the time and you'll be scrambling up and off the bed."
Heart suddenly stopped. She was right in the middle of fitting herself into her grey pencil skirt. She slid it up her legs and zipped up the zipper at the side. Then she marched over to her phone and pressed the home button. Right there on the screen was the time. 6:34 A.M..
"Violet!" Heart yelled.
Violet just laughed.
"This is so not funny."
"It most definitely is. Now let's go!"
Heart rolled her eyes and continued to search for her work clothes. She finally settled her eyes on a white blouse that she wore last week to work. She went after it and threw it on, stuffing the bottom of the blouse into her skirt so that she would look more clean and professional. Next thing she searched for was her beige heels. Once she was dressed, she opened the door to find Violet leaning against the bathroom door across from Heart.
Violet grinned. "Rise and shine!" She picked up one of the two coffee cups from out of the cup holder she was holding and extended it out to Heart.
Heart grabbed the cup out of her hand and walked past her to her small kitchen, setting the coffee cup on the counter. She started to search for her purse.
"You should be thanking me," Violet said, sitting down on a stool at the kitchen counter, crossing her legs. "If it wasn't for me, you would have slept past seven...would've been a complete mess, and then you would have gotten strike two."
"I know, I know. Thanks, Vi," Heart obliged, walking towards her sofa, looking under pillows, and scanning the room. Her black purse was nowhere to be found.
"I'm always there for you, you know," Violet continued. "I should be rewarded..."
Heart just nodded. "Yes, Vi. You should..." She sighed. "Where the hell is my purse," she muttered, distracted and frustrated.
"You know, I should be getting paid for my part of this friendship..." Violet rolled on.
"Mhmm," Heart muttered, not fully listening to Violet as she was still distracted, scanning the room again. "What the hell!" She muttered to herself loudly, confused on why she couldn't find her damn purse.
