She tried to catch her breath. Breathing in and out rapidly. For a moment, she forgot there were other people here.

They were watching.

"Sh-she deserved it!?" She said as a question. They wouldn't care anyway. They were idiots.

She wanted a glass of water. She wanted a hug. She wanted everyone to be quiet for a second.

She collapsed on her knees, still breathing heavy.

She still could barley comprehend what she did. She pushed her bestfriend into a blackhole. Her only real friend was dead because of her.

"L-Lady Grey..." her servant spoke hesitantly. She looked at him. Sorrow slightly shown on her face.

"The strangers left, Lady Grey."

She sighed. She could tell he was scared of her. But wasn't he always? No, he was her loyal butler. He liked his job, right? She didn't want to think about this right now.

She slowly got up. She left Chives to deal with the contestants while she cooled off.

When she entered her room, she realized how alone she was now.

If those "strangers" were never here, this would have never happened. No, this was Salt's fault. If she didn't try to take over the show and claim that she was only one that ever did anything... No.

This was Pepper's fault. She knew that. She was the one who killed her childhood friend.

She laid down on her bed and stared at the ceiling.

Pepper and Salt had been bestfriend since elementary. They did everything together. "Two peas in a pod" their parents would say.

Though their relationship got a little messy in highschool and college, they never left eachothers side.

But now they were adults. In Inanimate Insanity. Team Captains in fact.

They were so popular they even brought them back for a second season.

They were Queens in this world. They had servants and a MePhone to give them anything they could ever want.

Until those strangers showed up. They claimed they were from a different timeline. A "better" timeline. Psh, this one seemed perfect to her.

Pepper recognized one of them. A contestant from season one. Lightbulb, if she remembered correctly. No one from season one, except Salt and Pepper, came back. So this was new. But she fit in so, she was fine.

The other one, though...

She was a disruption. The girls knew exactly what to do with her. They smirked at eachother.

They gave her an option. A blackhole to die in, or a portal to come back and try again.

The next parts didn't fit in the story the way that I wanted it to so you get it as bonus:)

---------------

In highschool they were both the most popular girls in their school.

But Pepper was smart. Straight A student. Salt was... not as academically gifted. But Pepper didn't mind her cheating off her, it was fine. What're friends for, right?

------------------

Middle school was when things started to change. Specifically puberty, adolescence, whatever you wanna call it. Salt started developing crushes and obsessing over boys.

While Pepper didn't see the appeal. Who would want some ugly boy? But she was there for all of Salt's failed endeavors.

Pepper didn't know what was wrong with her. Most girls her age had boyfriends or tried to at least.

But Pepper didn't get those bubbly feelings when talking to them. She didn't awkwardly stare or blush when interacting. She really had nothing to do with them.

I guess the closest person she had would be Salt. When she's with Salt she feels safe. Her stomach fills with butterflies and she feels clarity. But, Salt's a girl, so obviously she doesn't have a crush on her.... right?

Did I ever mention that I love Pepper
