Chapter 5:

A/N: I promise this will be the last author's note for a while. I decided that I would do a little poll every 5 chapters just to see what my readers think about the Kirby franchise.

This first question will be (hopefully) an easy question:
What is your favorite Kirby boss? (mini bosses, level/section bosses, final bosses)
Mine are Fleurina (I love her design), Computer Virus (the concept is so unique in the games), and Yin Yarn (Epic Yarn is my favorite game)
Comment your favorites if you want!

Trigger warning for one scene with King Dedede in the beginning.

~On with the story~

That night, (Y/N) and Meta Knight spent their time together learning about each other. He told her some of his stories from his time in the war against NME and she told him about her home planet. They each had their fair share of laughs over it all. Unfortunately, time marches on at a steady pace, and the blue knight had to go back to his quarters. The pair were, once again, on the balcony, with him standing on the railing.

"I promise, mi amor, I will protect you at all costs." He was cradling her face in his hands and stroking her cheek with his thumb delicately. (Y/N) placed her hand over his and gave his palm a gentle kiss.

"I trust you."

He smiled softly before putting his mask back on. "You are still expected to train with me every day, by the way."

She giggled softly. "I know, Meta. I'll be there."

With a final nod, he spread his wings and flew away. The woman had the softest smile on her lips.

"Until tomorrow, my love."

~Meta Knight POV~

Meta Knight woke up the next morning bright and early. He and the other two knights were preparing to start the day with a quick training session after breakfast. Meta Knight offered to cook, but was denied outright when Sword started cooking. He exhaled as he went to sit down at the dining table.

"So how'd it go?" Blade asked him out of nowhere. He looked at his fellow knight, eyes swirling with green.

"Why is that any of your business?"

"Come on, mate," Sword called out from the kitchen. "Did she say yes or not?"

Meta Knight looked down and took a deep breath. "Sí, she did. And now three people in Dreamland know what my face looks like."

Blade looked over in surprise. "She took your mask off?"

"No. I took it off. I wanted to show her to see how she would react."

"Good on you, sir!" Sword replied as he brought out the plates of food. "You deserve some happiness after everything you've done."

Meta Knight chuckled. "Don't try to suck up to me, Sword. You know I don't work that way."

The trio of knights ate in silence, save for the occasional hum from one of them. The whole time, Meta Knight thought about the night before. (Y/N) looked so beautiful in the starlight. She looked like she had galaxies in her eyes, and her (H/C) hair cascaded down the sides of her face like a waterfall. How he longed for the moment when he saw her like that again, bathed in moonlight and smiling.

The knights finished breakfast and left to go train. During the walk, they overheard the king arguing with the salesman at NME. It seemed like the king was cut off from the company due to outstanding debts. Meta Knight listened carefully as they ranted at each other. Dedede pulled out a book to show the salesman: a botanical encyclopedia. Meta Knight had a feeling that he knew what would happen.
