Javier's POV

"Javi!" My name being yelled was what ultimately broke my sleep, making my eyes shoot open before I let out a groan and covered my face with my arm. I didn't get in until late last night—And by late, I really mean early. I should've known I wouldn't be able to sleep in.

"Si, pequeña?" I sighed as I finally moved my arm and opened my eyes. I blinked against the harsh light coming from the ceiling light my little sister had turned on.

She came stumbling in, looking just as beautiful as all of my siblings and looking more and more like our mother everyday with her dark skin.

I wish I looked like my mother too... I'm my dads twin. Don't get me wrong, I love mi papa, but I wish I had something to connect me to my mother more.

"Puedes peinarme?" My sister, Valentina, the youngest of us, asked as she climbed into my bed.

She always asked me to do her hair instead of our sister. I'm not sure if it's because I'm the oldest or because I do it the most similarly to how our mom used to... Either way, she prefers when I do her hair.

I flashed her a small smile and nodded as I sat up. "Si, Val. Trae los suministros." I told her, and she grinned and jumped off of my bed and went running out of my room, leaving me to sit up as I stretched my arms out over my head. While she was gone, I got up and walked out of my room and walked into the family bathroom to see my little brother Joaquín standing at the mirror as he unwrapped his durag to show off the braids he'd been taking such good care of because he knew if he fucked them up too quickly I wouldn't fix them.

"Buenos días, pájaro." I greeted him as I stepped into the bathroom.

"Buenos días, Javi." He muttered back in his newly deepened voice. He had just turned thirteen recently and puberty was jumping his ass.

I was the oldest of my siblings at nineteen, next was my little sister Angelica who was sixteen, then Joaquín at thirteen, then my other little brother Emiliano at ten, and Valentina at eight.

And our youngest sister would have been five now if our mother hadn't been killed with her...

Most of my siblings looked like our mother, while I and Angelica looked like our father. Which makes sense, seeing as we were both named after him—Her getting his first name and me getting his middle name.

"Puedes llevarme a la escuela por favor? No tengo ganas de tomar el autobús hoy." Joaquín asked from beside me while I brushed my teeth.

I hummed in response and nodded my head, and he smiled at me before looking to my side, making me turn my head to see Angelica walking in.

"No dejes que papi te escuche hablar español. Se supone que debemos practicar inglés." She reminded us as she reached past me to grab her own toothbrush.

"Él ni siquiera está aquí." Joaquín responded, rolling his eyes as he waved her off. "La niña de papá por aquí." He added on to me, making me chuckle and shake my head.

"Por eso estás reprobando matemáticas." Angelica spat back, making me laugh even louder.

"Deja de discutir." I told them after rinsing my mouth and putting my toothbrush back. "Joaquín, vístete y reúnete conmigo abajo." I added on as I stepped out of the bathroom and made my way back to my room where I saw Valentina sitting on my bed with all of the hair supplies I'd need.

"Buen trabajo, bebito." I told her as I sat down on the bed and let her sit between my legs. "Qué tal la escuela?" I asked as I ran my fingers through her thick, coily hair. Just like mama.
