Chapter 23

THE ABATTOIR
[Bella sees Hayley in the hall and walks toward her.]
Bella: Hayley!
Hayley: Bella. [Hayley eyed Bella worried.]
Bella: You know. [Hayley nodded.]
Hayley: You aren't good at hiding. Children know, too. Klaus is holding them back from coming to you.
"Thanks." Said Bella to Klaus.
Bella: Does Emma know?
Hayley: No. We all tried our best to hide it from her. She is in your room. [Bella nodded.]
Emma glared, but didn't say anything.
Bella: I'll talk to her the last. Before that, let's sit. [Hayley and Bella sit at table in the hall.]
Bella: Hayley, i'll be honest, at first, i didn't like you. Actually, i found you annoying, because you kept putting my niece in danger by running off and getting yourself in trouble, instead of staying home and taking care of your pregnant self. Then it was you trying to run off with Hope.
"Really? You spend your last hours on telling how much you dislike me?" Said Hayley.
"I think i am trying to make a point." Said Bella.
Hayley: Then you and Klaus cursing me and my pack.
Bella: Which saved you. But that's not what i'm trying to say. I'm saying that we had our up and downs like any family. Despite us having starting it off bad, beautiful friendshipped blossomed between us. You became very important person to me. And not only to me, but whole family. [Hayley smiles.]
Ofscreen Hayley smiled, too.
Bella: Hope is lucky to have you as her mother. You did everything for her and i'm sure you will keep doing it, because you are great mother.
"Thank you." Smiled Hayley. Bella smiled.
Hayley: Thank you.
Bella: You did so much for this family. You fought with us, you fell with us, you stood up with us. In this short amount of time, you became like a sister to me. [Hayley tears up.]
Hayley looks at Bella touched.
Bella: I'm happy you married Elijah, because you two deserve the best. What i said on wedding was true, You two are really made for each other and i wish you nothing, but best. I want you to all live long, happy lives... Elijah... He suffered a lot. He has habit of blaming himself for everything and even through he is strong, sometimes he needs someone to take care of him, too. I want you to do that. Help him do what's best for him. Help him put his need before others, because he tends to forget them. Give him the happiness he deserves.
Elijah smiles at Bella with watery eyes.
Hayley: (teary) I- i will.
Bella: Thank you. I wish you the best.
Hope's room
[Bella walks in and sees Hope, Pandora, Elias and Klaus sitting at bed.]
Bella: Hi! [Children get up fast. Klaus looks at Bella worried and sorrowfully.]
Hope&Pandora&Elias: Aunt Bella!
Bella: Nik, can you give us time? [Klaus nods and walks out.]
Hope: How are you?
Pandora: Is Hollow affecting you yet?
Elias: Are you really gonna die?
"Aww. They are so worried for me." Said Bella.
Bella: I'm fine. [Bella sits on bed. Pandora, Hope and Elias sit around her.]
Bella: Hollow isn't affecting me yet and yes, i'm gonna die. [Suddenly, Hope starts crying.]
Hope: I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. [Bella place her hand on Hope's back.]
"Oh, sweetie, it's not your fault." Said Bella.
Bella: Shhh. It's okay. It's not your fault.
Hope: It is. I should have never kidnapped you. If i didn't take hollow out, you would be still live.
Bella: But i would be away from my family. Forever. Listen to me, Hope. You too, Dora and Elias. This isn't your fault. This my decision. If you want to blame someone, blame inadu, because she is the only one who is guilty. [Three of them are crying.]
Bella: You three are the jewels of this family. You inspired us to become better people. You are all our miracles.
Everyone smiles.
[Bella touches Hope's cheek.]
Bella: Hope, your father carries more anger than a thousand armies could ever bear. He was betrayed, decieved, hurt. Believe me when i say he has already crossed hell and the only time i saw peace in his eyes was when he saw you. You made him feel something he never thought was possible- unconditonal love. You aren't a mistake. You are gift, wolf princess. Gift that made him better person.
Klaus smiles.
[Bella touches Elias's cheek.]
Bella: Little prince, Your parents didn't have it easy either. Before you... long time ago, your mother lost her unborn child. After that she didn't want to have children. Not until she met your father. When you were born, she was terrified. Trust me, when i say she has never been more terrified, because being a parent is probably the scariest thing person can ever do.
Parents all nodded.
Bella: But when she first hold you, it didn't matter how scared she was, because She knew she loved you more than anything and would do absolutely anything for you.
Freya smiled.
[Bella touches Pandora's cheek now.]
Bella: Sunshine, your father is paradox. He is faithful and yet detached. He is committed and yet relaxed. He loves everyone, and yet no one. He is sociable, but also a loner. He is gentle and yet tough. He is passionate, but can also be platonic. In short he is predictable in his unpredictibility, but he is worth it. He is worth the energy. You gave him what he always wanted- A family. Yes, he had one before you, but he always felt left out. You were the one who made him feel part of family, part of something important. You gave him unconditional love. The love that can be only between child and parent. You, love, are his miracle.
Kol smiled.
Bella: (to all three) You are Mikaelsons. Your whole life people will tell you who you are. Don't listen to them! Only you can decide who you are. It's okay to be different. Ordinary is never beautiful. To be beautiful, thy must be weird, different, strange.
"Thank you for this. She needed to hear it." Said Hayley. Bella nodded
Bella: (To Hope) You being Tribrid is not a bad thing, you aren't an abomination, you are special. Don't listen to those fanatic, racist idiots. You are witch, you are werewolf and you are vampire. They all have advantages and disadvantages like everything in the world, but they are all part of you and you shouldn't be ashamed of any of them.
Klaus nodded at Bella's words.
Bella: (to Hope) In your life you will make mistakes and since You are the most powerful creature, your mistakes will have bigger consecuencies. Like Peter's uncle said in "Spider-man" great power comes with great responsibilities.
"Really?" Said Davina.
"What? It's wise saying. Why does it matter where it isfrom." Said Bella.
Bella: (to Hope) You have to be ready for that. You will make mistakes, it's unavoidable. Everyone does. What matters is you learn from it. Don't let guilt swalow you.
"Good advice." Said Elijah.
Bella: (to Pandora and Elias) Only because you aren't tribrids, doesn't mean you are any less special. You are all special in your own ways. You two are just as much of miracles as Hope. You are just as much important as Hope. Never think otherwise or i will  hunt your arses. [Pandora and Elias let out watery chuckle.]
"Thank you." Said Kol.
"I didn't do it for you." Said Bella.
"I know and that's the best part." Said Kol.
"You are good aunt." Said Layla.
Bella: (to all three of them) I love you so much. [Bella hugs them, they hug her back.]
Bella's room
[Bella enters and sees Emma sitting on bed, reading book.]
Emma takes shaky breath.
Bella: Emma... [Emma places her book down and goes toward Bella.]
Emma: (worried) Bella! Where were you? I have been looking for you everywhere. No one told me anything. I was so worried. I thought something happened to you.
"Sorry, love." Said Bella to Emma.
Bella: Sorry. I asked them to not tell you.
Emma: Tell me what?
Bella: I took hollow out of Klaus and put it in me. I'll be the one who dies. [Emma laughs in disbelief.]
Emma: It's a joke, right?
Bella: Look, he is my brother. I can't let him die.
Klaus glared at Bella.
"I don't want you to die for me!" Said Klaus.
"I'm not dying for you. I'm dying so i'll defeat Hollow. And with it i protect not only you, but Hope and everyone else." Said Bella.
Emma: And i can't let you die! Bella...
Bella: (interrupt) Emma, i love you. I love you more than i have ever loved anyone, but i can't let my family die. If i don't do it either my brother or niece will die. If you were in my place, if your mother was alive, wouldn't you do the same for her? Wouldn't you do the same for your family? [Emma starts crying.]
"I'm sorry i hurt you." Said Bella.
"I understand. Back then i didn't want to admit, but i would do the same in your place." Said Emma. Bella smiled at her.
Emma: Please, Bella. Please. You are all i have. You are my world. You are my everything. Please, don't leave me.
Single tear falls from Emma's eye.
Bella: You won't be alone. You can stay here. My family is your family. I asked them, they will be happy to have you. They all like you.
"We do." Said Freya. Emma smiled at her.
Emma: It does not matter! You can't die! I won't lose you! I won't! [Emma clunches Bella's hand. Bella ignores pain.]
Bella: Please, listen to me. I don't want to leave without goodbye.
Emma: Don't leave then! We will find another way to defeat her.
Bella: We don't have enough time. The only reason why i still haven't lost my mind is herbs and herbs won't last that long. [Emma looks away. Bella grabs her chin and makes Emma look at her.]
Bella: Chances are, I'll never get a moment like this again, so here's everything I ever wanted to tell you. No one has ever gotten me like you; I've never found anyone who makes me laugh like you. You're the one person who I can honestly see myself happy with; the definition of love to me is you.
Emma stats crying. Bella is looking at scene sadly.
Bella: I knew the second I met you that there was something about you I needed. Turns out it wasn't something about you at all. It was just you. Because sometimes you meet someone and you don't know how or why or what brought you together but suddenly you can't imagine life without them. And everything feels lighter and brighter and better with them there. You forget who you were before them because you've never felt more like yourself than right now, beside them. And that's how you make me feel. I love how you draw everything out of me that I've been afraid of sharing. I love how you paint the world as a beautiful place with your words, and you make me want to fall in love with life over and over again. I love how the stars can't even compete with your eyes. Because I see more than galaxies in them- I see universes where I can find my home. I love the way your laugh makes my skin tingle and that your voice melts my heart. I love you so much I want you have to everything there is in the world to offer.
"I really am crazy in love with you, aren't i?" Said Bella.
"You were." Sniffled Emma.
Bella: There's no one quite like you, and there's no one else who could make me feel this way. Your passion and determination out shines anything else.
You're so easy to fall in love with, everything about you is so incredible. You have such an amazing soul and a heart that's made out of gold. I am so crazy in love with you. Life wouldn't have been the same if you hadn't walked through in that bar that night.  Laying with your arms around me, I feel so comfortable and safe. My heart is beating a mile a minute having you so close to me. As you play with my hair and kiss me, I can't help but smile straight from my heart. I can see how much you care from the look in your eyes.
Bella smiles at the thought of loving someone and being loved so much. Klaus looks at Emma with respect.
Bella: It makes me never want to let you go, to just stay wrapped in your arms forever, where nothing else matters but you and me. But life isn't that easy. I can't stay, I have to leave you and i'm so sorry. But even if i won't be here physically my heart will stay with you. I want you live long, joyful life. I want you to smile and laugh. Find someone else. Someone who will love you as much as i love you and live.
"There is no someone else. There is only you." Said Emma. Bella teared up at that.
Emma: (sobbing) I don't want someone else. I want you.
Bella: Maybe now, but it can change.
Emma: It won't.
Bella: It's okay if you fall in love again. But if you won't, know that i'll be waiting on the other side. Until then enjoy your life.
Emma: (crying) How can i do it without you?
Bella: You will. You will, because you are so strong. You can do anything. [Bella kisses Emma. Emma kisses back passionetly.]
"I can feel love with just watching that kiss." Said Layla.
Klaus's office
[Layla and Enzo are cuddled at couch and drinking alcohol.]
Enzo: When i... When she saved me from Augustine, she knew i couldn't sleep, so she would sit next to me. She said nothing. She just set there. She sometimes would bring alcohol and we would drink in silence. Once i decided to tell her. She didn't judge me or pity me. No, she told me that i should be proud of it. Because i am a survivor. Because i got throught it and it's not shame. It's something i should be proud of.
Layla smiled at her mother.
"Softie!" Teased Kol. Bella rolled her eyes fondly.
Enzo: I- I can't believe she is dying. She always seemed so invicible. [Layla nodded.]
Layla: Yeah, she is amazing woman. When i was little i loved to draw. Doesn't matter how horrible my drawings was, she always looked at them like it was masterpiece and hang them on a wall.
Klaus smiled along with Layla.
Layla: I remember once i painted on her wall. Her room was dark and plain. She didn't even have many objects. So i wanted to make her a surprise by my painting. When she came back and saw wall, she was angry. I.. i didn't have good experience with anger, so i got scared and started crying. She tried to calm me, but i couldn't hear her. (Smiles) So to make me feel better she took paint and painted with her bare hands on the wall.
"You are great mother." Said Freya.
"She is." Said Layla.
"Thank you." Said Bella.
Layla: I couldn't belive my eyes. (Chuckles) Then she smiled at me and told me that if i wanted to decorate something, i should ask her first. I happily agreed. Then she took little paint and sprayed it at me. At first i was shocked, but then i took paint, too and we ran around house pouring paint everywhere.
Both Layla and Bella smiled at memory.
[Marcel walks in, but they don't notice him.]
Enzo: Sounds fun.
Layla: (smiles) It was.
Marcel: (coughs) Mhm. [Layla and Enzo sit up. Aria walks in behind Marcel.]
Marcel: Aria came back just now.
Aria: Just came to say hi.
Layla&Enzo: Hi! [Marcel grins.]
LATER
[Kol, Davina, Layla, Enzo, Marcel, Aria, Elijah, Hayley, Klaus, Freya, Vincent are drinking and remembering moments about Bella.]
Klaus: Once she made some new dish and managed to food poison us-Original vampires.
Hayley: She did?
Kol: She did. I swear for a second i thought i was gonna die.
"You two are so dramatic. It wasn't that bad." Said Bella.
"It wasn't bad? Man turned green." Said Kol and pointed at Klaus.
"It's true." Nodded Klaus. Everyone laughed. Bella corssed her arms.
"Ungrateful arseholes." Huffed Bella.
Davina: (rolling her eyes) You are so dramatic.
Kol: I am not dramatic. My life flashed before my eyes. [Everyone laughed.]
People chuckle.
Layla: Wait. Do you remember that April Fool's in Copenhagen where she and Klaus compelled a circus troupe to follow you around?
Klaus: (laughing) That was great.
"It was." Laughed Bella.
Elijah: Also known as the most challenging hours of my long life. [They laugh.]
Marcel: No, no, no, no, no. The worst was when she made Klaus believe he was being hunted by a ghost.
"Oh, yeah! That was fantastic! One of my best pranks ever!" Laughed Bella. Klaus sent her a glare, while others who watched the event laughed.
Elijah: (laughing) He even brought witches and exortists to get ride of ghost and hide in his room. [Everyone laughed except Klaus.]
Offscreen everyone laughed, too.
Klaus: (grumbling) It wasn't funny.
"Aww. Is great Klaus Mikaelson afraid of ghosts?" Teased Hayley.
"You can't fight a ghost!" Defended Klaus. Laugher got louder.
Kol: Her alcohol collection has always been my favorite. It's even better than Nik's.
Klaus: How is it better? She stole them from me!
Bella: Because you weren't the only one i stole from.
"True. And you can't judge me! Yours was stolen, too!" Defended Bella.
Hayley: Bella! Emma!
Bella: Don't stop on our accaunt. If it's my funreal, then, let's get on with.
Emma: I'll call kids.
Living room
[Kol, Davina, Freya, Vincent, Marcel, Aria, Elijah, Hayley, Klaus, Bella, Emma, Hope, Pandora and Elias are sitting at table. They are eating, making toast, telling stories and laughing.]
Everyone smiled at scene.
"We all look so happy. Carefree. It's beautiful." Smiled Bella with tears in her eyes. Others agreed with her.
Layla: All right. It's time for an old-fashioned wish burning ceremony.
[Everyone is gathered around fire and throw writen wishes in it.]
Bella: You know, you all mean everything to me. Your loyalty and your counsel and your love... is probably the only reason why I've survived as long as I have. Which is how I know... long after I'm gone... you will all come together, time and time again, to take care of each other. And that is why I'm not afraid... for your future.
Elijah: We're bound forever to those with whom we share blood. And while we may not choose our family... that bond is our greatest strength.
"You figured it out." Smiled Bella.
Bella: Though I may be leaving you tonight... this is not the end of the Mikaelsons. Always and forever.
All: Always and forever.
Everyone smiles sadly.
[Bella goes to Emma and kisses her.]
Bella: My family is your family. They will take care of you. [Bella looked at Mikaelsons and they nodded.]
"They followed their promise." Said Emma.
"We take promises seriously." Said Bella.
Emma: I don't need...
Bella: Everyone needs someone. I love you.
Emma: I love you, too.
Layla: Mom. There is people who want to see you! [Bella looks at Layla confused.]
"What people?" Asked confused Bella.
Layla: Follow me! [Bella and everyone else in house follows Layla. They see huge number of people standing in front of the door.]
"They.. They came to see me?" Asked surprised Bella.
"You are their leader." Pointed out Layla.
"I haven't been that for centuries." Said Bella.
"If your help is necessery you always come. You are still part of "Shadow"." Said Layla.
Evan: Bella!
Bella: Evan? What are you all doing here?
Evan: To pay our sire and her nobel sacrifise respect. [Evan kneels. So does whole organisation.]
"Now that's respect." Said Marcel.
Evan: You may rest in peace, sire.
Everyone: You may rest in peace, sire. [They bow their heads. Bella looks shocked and touched.]
Bella lookes touched by this gesture.
Bella: (teary) Thank you. Thank you for such a respect and loyalty. I'm honored to be your sire. You may rise.
[They stand up. Bella looks at her whole family (including Emma) for last time and smiles.]
Bella: Don't follow! I don't want you to watch. [They are all silently crying. Hope can't stop herself and runs at Bella. Pandora and Elias follow.]
Hope&Pandora&Elias: Goodbye, Aunt Bella.
Bella: Goodbye, my little jewels. [Bella kisses their heads.]
Bella smiles.
[Then Layla goes and hugs Bella. Then comes Kol. They have to forcefully take him from her. Elijah, Freya, Marcel, Hayley, Enzo, Davina, Emma and finally, Klaus.]
Bella: Nik, let me go. [Klaus doesn't.]
Bella: Nik. [Klaus lets go. Tears streaming down his face, like everyone else.]
"Hey! No crying on my last minutes! If i go, i want to go with laugher!" Said Bella.
"You aren't going anywhere!" Said everyone.
Bella: No. No crying. It's not what my last memory to be. [They wipe their tears off and smile. Bella smiles back. Her eyes shining with love.]
Bella: Goodbye. I love you all. [Bella looks at her whole family (including Emma) carefully, with smile and leaves. Everyone seems to be struggling not to chase her.]
Everyone in theater is crying.
FRENCH QUATER
[Bella is standing on the roof of one of the buildings and looks over New Orleans for last time. Then she takes out white oak stake and aims it at her heart. Her hands tremble.]
Bella: Come on, Bella. It's just a little stab. [Bella tears up, but refuses to let her tears drop.]
Everyone starts unconrtrolably sobbing.
[She takes a deep breath and stabs herself in heart. Slowly she catches fire and her ashes are taken by wind.]
Some look away, so they won't have to see it. But not Klaus and Elijah. They watch it without missing a moment, because they think they own her that.
THE ABATTOIR(Hope's room)
[Hope is painting her whole family portrait. She feels gaze on her and turns around. Bella is standing there watching her, but Hope doesn't seem to see her...]
"Ho--?" Said confused Layla.
"She isn't really there. Her spirit is watching over like she promised." Said Emma.
[We realise it's actually a ghost. Klaus walks in room.]
Klaus: Hope?
Hope: Yes?
Klaus: Hayley is calling you. [Klaus sees painting.]
Klaus: It's beautiful. [Klaus goes to get closer look.]
Klaus: I wasn't half as talented at your age. You are really protege, aren't you?
"That she is." Smiled Hayley.
[Hope smiles at him and then walks toward door. Klaus stays. He is still looking at family protrait, his gaze is locked on painting of Bella.]
Hope: Dad! Aren't you coming?
Klaus: Yes, yes. I'm coming. [Klaus walks toward door and we see ghost Bella again. She is watching them with soft smile.]
When everyone is done crying, Emma takes out big book.
"With the knowledge of future you can prevent many enemies and suffering. After Bella's death i spent years trying to find ways to defeat hollow and i found it. Here is instructions, spells and ritual you will need for it." Said Emma and hands Bella heavy looking book.
"Now you can go back to your times and fix the future. Don't waste this chance!" Said Emma. Light glowed again and everyone went back where they were.
